The texture is pretty close to perfect: There is grip but not so much that it feels like it won't let go. The adhesive seems very strong, but still easy to work with on installation. I dropped this directly onto outdoor treated lumber steps and it adhered just fine with just some pressure (I stepped on it). Time will tell how it holds up to the sun, snow and rain but install was great and it keeps me from feeling like I'm on ice anytime the steps are wet.

Used these on my basement steps so I can't speak to them being waterproof, but they stick to the stairs well and provide much needed grip to the steps. They're easy to cut. I just used a box cutter. The hardest part is getting them lined up straight on the stairs.
