This is by far the best tool I've used for removing mats from my older cat, who doesn't groom herself as well as she did. It cuts right through the mats. It still requires patience as to not annoy the cat too much, but it gets the job done!!

I have a ragdoll who gets mats all the time. She is notorious for under the belly mats. This comb is perfect for removing them without damaging the fur. It's slick and easy to use. Very effective. Not electric so it has no noice. No stickiness.

Our friends, also Bouvier owners, turned us on to this tool for making efficient work of clearing mats from the coat. It's definitely one of our better tools, and good value for the money. We have two, one configured for left-hand use, one for right-hand, rather than go through the trouble of reconfiguring a single article depending upon whether my wife or I are using it.First caveat is your dog's safety and comfort. I would not recommend this tool for a first time user. I also hope that no one actually points the blades toward the skin in the manner shown by the advertising photos. That was cringeworthy! The grip makes it easy to keep the edges and sharp ends parallel or away from the dog's skin. If you're not sure, talk to a professional groomer or experienced owner about technique.Second caveat is durability and sharpness. Yes, it is easily cleaned, including in the dishwasher. The stainless is very robust against rust. However, the material durability comes at price of softness and inability to hold an edge, especially against hair. The serrated nature of the edge also precludes sharpening the blades. So this tool has a finite lifespan before it becomes so dull that it pulls the hair excessively before cutting into a difficult mat. If this was a daily use tool on a good-sized dog, I'd estimate needing to replace it every six to nine months. The tool is a good (and inexpensive) attempt at the compromise between a comb, a rake, and a blade. It's a good intermediate step in finding out what tools and techniques work for you and your dogs.

I know you're on here trying to solve a big problem with your pet like I was. Here is what helped: 1)buy jar of coconut oil from baking oils in grocery store. 2)trim your pets hair with scissors-feeding them wet food helps distract them 3)Rub the coconut oil on the matted parts left over. It may take a week or 2 of trimming and applying the oil but their need to groom away the oil will cause them to safely remove their own mats. My longhair cats will not tolerate being shaved or this tool I purchased, but trimming their hair short and applying coconut oil was 100% effective...and simple and practically free of cost.

My older cat doesn’t clean herself very thoroughly anymore so she gets a lot of small dense mats in her hair, even with us brushing her every day. When using this brush, I can tell that it probably works very well on most dogs, and other cats as well, but it is too big and too harsh for an elderly cat on the smaller side (8lbs in her prime and 4.5 as an oldie). Especially with small dense mats, this is too large to easily work on each clump without poking at and irritating the surrounding area. Cats have very stretchy and sensitive skin, so with a cat whose fur is not as dense and fluffy as it used to be, and whose skin is even more thin and sensitive, it’s hard not to pull too hard or poke her with the tips. Even though they are rounded for safety and don’t scratch her, it’s still a small metal tip with a somewhat pointy shape which gets irritating over time rubbing over the same spot. Perhaps if the brush was smaller, it would be easier to stay isolated on one knot at a time.I am still able to use this very gently by just barely brushing over each layer of the knot and it still works a little better that way than any other brush I have partly due to its smaller size and sideways design. But it takes a long time for each spot this way and she doesn’t exactly want to let me brush her and mess with her fur for 45 minutes at a time on one spot. Especially not on a less comfortable area like under her chest and belly, which is wear she gets the worst knots. The shape and size work really well compared to other brushes for the most part, but because it’s sideways, it only really works from one angle. I wish there was some way to flip around the blades or switch them to the other end of the handle. The blades are not so sharp that they slice right through the matted fur. They still require a bit of tugging. Nothing too extreme, but still too rough if you have an older or more sensitive animal. Overall this brush has a few flaws, but I don’t think it is a bad product. In my opinion however, it’s not as versatile or quite as efficient as the description leads you to believe.

Funktioniert ganz toll holt auch hartnäckige Knoten raus. Scharfe Klinge aber ohne Verletzungsgefahr. Mehr gibt es nicht zu sagen. Einfach toll.
