what french/euro cut means is they are only shaven in the top 1/3 of the reed and the rest is almost untouched so its VERY stiff and requires heavy moisture and some gentle squeezing to work and even then - some shaving to lighten the spine and make remotely playable. I wrote a huge review on the other set of 3 reed pack from Jiayouy that has the black threads , please read that to get an idea of what the typical western / American school reed should be like. These will need to be carved / shaved to lighten the stiffness and some teflon tape wrapped around the area where it meets the staple ( cork tube ) to prevent leaks when playing. IF you know how or can learn how to shave them yourself you can save money with these and carve to your liking. at 8$ each when doing that - they are the cheapest way to get reeds but again you'll need to adjust them... do not buy these if you have a student and no one in the fam is capable or willing to shape/carve them. Youtube has many videos on the topic ... search for somethingtocrowabout channel - those ladies really know their stuff and can explain this more.

Receive those reeds. One is broken, the other is too tight and almost broken. No wonder I could not make a sound out of it. That is, after my oboe tutor pointed out those product defects during class.

Honestly, I think it would mean so much more to handmake your own reeds. You would get the perfect sound and have a deep inner meaning, but I have no idea of how to do that. I could probably look online (thank you internet) and learn how to do it, and I may, but right now this is the best I'll get. Thank you.

Horrible I bought these reeds for my daughter to use in band she plays oboe and she had a lesson AND band rehearsal, she couldn’t play because she found out they were ALL damaged and cracked she had to finger along and was super upset and mad when she can home. Totally do not recommend!

It’s about impossible to play notes, I bought this for secondary reeds while I wait for good ones, but been honest, im totally disappointed - I know they are cheap but I wasn’t expecting that terrible quality!
