Self-locking jaws ().

No more time-consuming test-adjusting to achieve the correct size. With the extra-slim Knipex Cobra water pump pliers (model 87 51 250), you can simply position the upper jaw to the workpiece, push the button, and close the lower jaw. And you'll also be able to say goodbye to blood blisters you get with other gripping pliers. With safety its first priority, Knipex has designed a built-in pinch guard that prevents blood blisters on your hand.

This extra-slim model with its long, narrow jaws is ideal for service and maintenance, equipment repair, automotive, and general industry applications. You'll get good access to the workpiece due to the very slim construction of the head and joint area.

The unique self-locking adjustment and induction hardened gripping teeth means that once it's set, it stays. There's no slipping and no need to waste strength squeezing the pliers — ensuring operator safety and more efficient work. Cobra's unique jaw configuration can grip any shape object — flat, round, hex, or square. It also eliminates nut burring to avoid stripping pipes, nuts, or bolts. Additionally, the Cobra's newly redesigned adjustment provides 30 percent more gripping capacity than previous models.

A simple push of the patented push button adjustment maintains jaw size setting and gives you the correct size opening every time. Just position the upper jaw to the workpiece, push the button, adjust the opening, and close the lower jaw. And it's easily done with just one hand for trouble-free operation in confined spaces.

Extra-slim Cobra great for automotive applications ().

Quality in Every Detail

Sometimes we give our pliers a really hard time. We try to destroy them to find out what makes them good and long lasting. Because we don't want to leave anything to chance, we take a long, careful look.

The steel Knipex uses is precisely hardened with a maximum of 0.8 percent carbon and defined parts of chromium and vanadium, guaranteeing optimum cutting performance and service life — even though it requires special production and costs a bit more. But our high product demands require this.

The rivet of our high-leverage diagonal cutter also has to stand up to a lot of stress. That's why we literally give it backup: we forge it straight onto the pliers. This means extra effort as we have to precision mill the rivet to a few hundredth millimeters. But satisfied users are worth this effort.

Knipex also looks closely at the small details. The angles, the sharpness, the hardness, the toughness of the cutting edges. The precision and smooth movement of the joint. The handle design and the finish. We keep reviewing these subjects, we research, we test, and we improve our pliers.

About Knipex

Headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, Knipex is an independently owned family enterprise steeped in tradition and specializing in the manufacturing of high-quality pliers. It all started back in 1882 when C. Gustav Putsch set up his own forge shop in Cronenberg (now a suburb of Wuppertal), and the company is now run by a fourth generation of that family. The world's leading brand in pliers today, Knipex is focused on the performance, service life, and ergonomics of its tools in order to meet the high expectations of professional users.

The cobra pliers were already a homerun and then they make this pair. A little slimmer, and bang just like that you have 10” of tool that can get into some tight places. Like water tight. These pliers are of course a one handed operation meaning they're easy to use. The sharp lines and comfortable grips allow for greater accuracy when working “tiiiiight”!You’re gonna buy these and you’ll notice they aren’t a cheap pair of the competitions par performing channies. The price will reflect the quality but your kids are gonna see the value for the money when one day they don’t have to buy a pair of their own, know what I’m sayin? You’re welcome and remember friend, if it ain't tight, it ain't right! Why dont you wedge yourself in there? Get a little quality german style!

Machining is a huge step above the standard cobra pliers. The finish is so much better, the teeth are finer, and there's barely any play with the pliers. No comfort grips as of this date, but totally not a deal breaker.Another home run from a quality German toolmaker.

These pliers will come in handy with the longer tip for backing up nuts when I need them for plumbing work. I have smaller wrenches for tight spots so I needed a wrench for backing them up when tightening. Well made with smooth operation.

First off if you're new to Knipex, they are amazing and worth every penny. More or less everything they make is amazing and will be the best for a specific design (e.g. needle nose pliers) and that includes Snap On. So it's really high praise to say that these might be my favorite set of Knipex Pliers, as I am fortunate to own 16 different sets of theirs.Much like everything they make, they are extremely durable and I have no concerns about them ever breaking as I don't remember even reading a review over a broken product they make let alone have one break on me. The adjusting mechanism is brilliant as it's the same one they use on multiple designs (which isn't a bad thing) . The reason I like these so much is that the head geometry, as they act very similar to needle nose pliers, but are easier to get much higher bite. If you can only own one set of their pliers the "classic" design is the way to go, these IMO are a close second. Highly recommend.Edit: My Knipex collection has spiraled a little out of control (see pics if you want to see what I'm "comparing" it too), but still consider this to be my favorite set. At least for automotive use, I just find myself using these constantly. Also the rack I keep them on is the "Pliers Rack II"

Great for tight nooks and crannies of wherever bolts may be and it’s versatile with having a nut hex design in the back of the jaw, a flat bill for the front of the jaw, and the adjustable locking slider. The nut hex design is good for gripping nuts where you’re screwing in the bolt and with Knipex’s known leverage design (push from the top handle to force the jaws to close against the nut), you’re either going to break the threads or your wrist, but never your Knipex. German engineering. The flat bill at the front of the jaw is dual purpose in clamping down ends like a metal lip or flat piece that needs to be shimmied in place AND it can be used for larger nuts or bolt heads with how long the flat section of the jaws are. German ingenuity. The adjustable locking slider is another staple of Knipex’s advancement in use of everyday tools to make our work easier. No more slipping out of the grooves, no more misaligned handles as you grimace for the jaws to slip off, no more stuck jaws from damage and scoring of the metal, and most importantly, no more pinched fingers so you can keep on working all day long (and still give the Missus a nice tickle down under back home). German foresight.

If you've been wanting to try a pair of Knipex pliers try these, they won't disappoint. I've been using these pliers for about a month now and I can confidently say they have lived up to the Knipex hype and are well worth the price. The low profile design of the head fits into tight spaces with ease and the pointed jaws allow you to grasp items that other pliers just can't. Most recently this feature came in handy when removing the cone washers that help retain the upper bearing cap on the steering knuckles of a Toyota solid front axle. The cone washer sits in a well in the knuckle and over time it sticks to the stud making it difficult to remove. The narrow pointed jaws of these pliers were able to grasp the dime thick portion of the cone washer sticking out of the well and I was able to twist and wiggle it breaking it free and more easily removing it. As with the rest of the Cobra line these pliers are easily adjusted with a push button mechanism that has a finer and in my opinion much better design than a traditional slip groove plier. The steel used to cast these pliers seems to be of very high quality, far superior to Chinese and even most American tool steel. The teeth of these pliers are exceptionally sharp and have proven very durable, they bite into grade 8 fasteners and hardened castings and do not release until you do. I've turned bolts as large as 3/4in and never did I feel the handle flex or twist even under my full 180lb body weight. I can not say the same about other pliers I've owned. I'm thoroughly impressed and high recommend these pliers.

I had to have these as I know Knipex makes the BEST tools. I had a pair that I lent to a (former) friend and never got back, hence the former... The slim head on these (~1cm width) with the tapered design lets me reach at things a regular set of Cobra Pliers can't get to. They open up one handed to over 4 inches or so and have padded handles for a slip proof strong grip. They have well hardened jaw steel with the trademarked COBRA design that beats all comers! I Highly Recommend these pliers for getting into a tight spot and getting a good grip. Even Charley Brown could get a grip with these!I hope you’ve found the information and my review helpful.
