First off, I think people need to be realistic with their expectations... No small table top fan is going to compete with a professional fume hood. Nor is a cheap 'activated carbon' filter going to remove all the hazardous fumes released by melting solder and rosin. BUT - if you simply need a solution for preventing the smoke and fumes from going right up your nostrils and into your eyes, this product is a decent option. This fan is slightly smaller than I anticipated at about 5" square and 3" deep. But that actually works towards it's advantage because it doesn't take up much space and is easily maneuvered close to your workspace. It draws smoke and fumes from within about 6"-8", which is sufficient for the task. I don't know why I haven't invested in something like this 30 years ago - it's so much more pleasant soldering without choking on the smoke. I position my work, bring the fan over, solder and move the fan back. Easy peasey. I highly doubt the filter is capturing all the smoke and fumes, but really I couldn't see it blowing out the back either and my bench area did smell a lot less. Seems like it's a bit more than just blowing the smoke around.Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. It's not too expensive and does the job.

I’m really pleased with the fit, finish and functionality of this fume eliminator. Works exactly as I’d hoped and the filters seem sturdy. Excellent product!

I’ve been using this for soldering stained glass. It works great and makes me feel a lot safer not breathing in the fumes as much. I do wish it was a little more powerful though, I need to solder directly in front of it for it to be effective.

I’ve been using this unit for about a year for stained glass soldering. It works well to pull the flux smoke away from my face while soldering 60/40 at about 5-6â€. Beyond that it won’t grab the smoke. It is lightweight enough if I’m working on a large panel, I can sit it on top of the glass with no damage. Within 6†there is no flux smell in the whole room,if you make stained glass you know that smell. So I have no scientific way of knowing if it’s working but the lack of smell is a good sign🤣The filter gets kind of yucky over time and I replace with another filter. I’m not really sure the manufacturers recommendation for filter life. Another review mentioned it’s lack of protection against lead which is not the purpose of this unit. You can get lead exposure in your blood from touching lead and it getting into your body through cuts, eyes or mouth. You cannot vaporize lead at the temperature we work at for stained glass. This unit is good for the flux chemical burning off. I also use a respirator along with this unit since I’m exposed to the flux smoke daily as a full time glass artist. 4 stars because it’s kind of loud, have to crank up my music to hear over it. Overall a good purchase and fair price.

I didn’t expect much but I’m impressed. Provided I’m working within about 8 to 10 inches or so, it pulls all the smoke away from me. It moves air much better than expected and does a great job of eliminating odor. A member of my family is very sensitive to smell and irritants. They were able to stand in the room without issue.Thant being said, it’s not a HEPA filter. If you decide to stir a container of flux with a hot soldering iron you’re still probably going to choke out. Quick jobs might be fine but you’re still not going to be able to work for extended periods of time in a closed room without some sort of ventilation. It’s built solid and has a bit of weight, so it doesn’t knock over easily. The housing is painted metal and contains a very capable fan. I have no complaints about the build quality or efficiency. The fan isn’t loud but it’s not quiet either. You could still easily hold a conversation with it on. Headphones seem to mask the sound quite nicely but, to me, it isn’t obnoxiously loud when considering what it is.A filter comes preinstalled with one spare in the box. The carbon filter fits snugly but replacing it is easy. I found a five pack of replacement Kotto carbon filters for $12.99 on Amazon with Prime shipping.I’m going to build a HEPA fume extractor, but this will work until then. I’ll keep it around even after because it will still be a great tool if I need something portable. The five star review isn’t because it works like an industrial fume extractor. It’s because I think it’s a great value for the money and I haven’t been able to find anything that I would consider a flaw. Thanks for your time.LLAP

I am impressed so far by the build quality. From the picture I was expecting something a little lighter but this feels solidly built and sturdy. The filter is also easy to remove but secure. I also appreciate that it comes with an extra filter and pads for the feet. The fan could be a little quieter but it is in no way loud. My biggest issue is that the power cable is a little short and barely reaches my floor, albeit I so have a kind of high table I work on.I would recommend to the manufacturer to increase the cable length and it would also be nice if it had an adjustable speed. Other than that, I am so far happy with the product.

I live in a shoebox and this little fan really does the job. My soldering use was in a small room near a window and I am more than pleased. I soldered an insane amount of the lead and RoHS unleaded solder near it and the pull from a reasonable distance without any issues, I was alarmingly surprised how well it worked. If you keep your tools near it pulls all the “residuals†into it no problem. It’s worth the extra coin in comparison to others slightly cheaper options, this thing is worth it.

I was so happy to receive the extractor fan the next day, fast shipping. The fan is not too loud but does a great job. After soldering a big project there was no smoke in the air at all. Works great & great deal.

Un muy buen extractor de vapores de flux. Es recomendando demasiado usar uno como este para evitar problemas de salud a la larga.

I use it when i solder stained glass. It works very well. It doesn't take much space on the work table, the fan is pretty quiet

Lo usamos para los humos del cuatin, y funciona maravillosos. Chupa el humo completamente, se modo que ya no te da el olor del estaño. Esta compacto y lo puedes poner justo al lado de tu à rea de trabajo.

I would call this unit perfect IF it had a knob to adjust the fan speed. I am very happy with it in all aspects except I wish to turn the speed down so that I can reduce the noise. The positive thing to note here is that it works so well I could reduce the speed without suffering performance.I keep hearing people say these lower cost, small extractor have weak suction. I found that is not the case with this one. It works quite well. The filter itself is better than I expected. I thought it would be a flimsy sponge but it really is rigid, it's been coated or dipped in carbon. It seems to take the smoke out of the air rather than push it around. Is it a bit loud and because of the 3000rpm AC motor it can reverberate through the work bench. I put it on a pad to stop this.Because the suction is so good, I wish there were a fan speed control. I think this fan could run at 2000rpm or even less while providing ample coverage in my working area. This would reduce the noise. If you have $45 to spend and you don't already have a fume extractor, get this! It works well. The build quality is good. It feels good. It's weighted, it stays in place. The wiring looks safe and professional. It's a great unit.I was using a small desk fan to blow the fumes away from my face, this having a carbon filter that actually seems to work is a huge upgrade. It also takes up very little space on the work bench. Has a nice little handle to move it around.Lastly this is an AC fan and I think a DC fan would be much more power efficient. But a DC fan would require a power supply which could malfunction increasing the maintenance headaches. It seems like these AC fans are easy to come by so I guess that's a benefit. I still would prefer it be a DC fan.
