I hesitated to purchase this, originally being told it wasn’t great for BioThane material, and since I make leashes and collars from leather and BioThane, I really wanted to be able to use it for both. It goes through thick leather like butter, but even more surprising is how well it works with BioThane material - including the super heavy, and super grip variety which is about a quarter thick.I’ve been using this daily for months now and it hasn’t shown any sign that it is becoming dull or lacking in any way. I wanted to wait before reviewing to be sure it would last and continue to perform with heavy use.I originally planned to use it temporarily until I could save for an arbor press, or something designed more for long term use - but so far I don’t see any reason to replace it.The Herm Sprenger name is one I knew well prior to this purchase, and I knew from experience they only make quality equipment, but this exceeded my already high expectations going into it.It’s money well spent.

So my hands hurt a lot from my job these are a life saver when it comes to punching holes in my horse tack. They truly are much easier than all the others, so worth the money.

If you're reading this, then you're probably on the fence about one or two hole punches on Amazon. I'll save you some time and say, yes, this is definitely worth the money. I do leather work for a living and have gone through a ton of punches. The real nice CS Osborne ones, the fancy german made Knippex, and the $12 China ones that look just like this one. Here's the difference...The standard hole punches just don't get you the leverage you need for thicker material like leather or for clean holes on materials with fine fibers. The CS Osborne and Knippex fall into this category. They're nice, heave duty, but a pain for thicker materials.I bought my last Sprenger about five years ago and have gotten so spoiled on the ease of use. It recently got dull (you can't replace the ends unfortunately) so I was shopping for another one. I cheaped out and bought a Chinese knock off of this that had decent reviews. The grips were HUGE compared to the Sprenger. Like it was made for a giant. Plus, the whole thing was flimsy and the end didn't cut clean. I ended up breaking it just by punching some leather a few weeks after I bought it.The Sprenger is a work horse. I've punched everything from leather to 1/4" thick ABS plastic every week for the past five years and it has just now started getting dull. The price is high but I know without a doubt it will outlive every other punch

If you want a strong well made hole punch for your leather, this is it. I have never used this brand before and have always used the ones I buy at the tack stores. This one was worth every bit I spent on it. This one will last a lifetime. Highly recommend.

This punch replaces another I'd bought recently. The old one did not last for many punches and did not punch cleanly. This punch is noticeably more expensive, and is a very similar design to the old one, but wow, what a difference. Much less force required to punch through thick leather, very clean holes. Have not had this very long, so cannot comment on longevity. I think "Made in Germany" is a harbinger of long-lasting quality, so am hopeful.

I have horses and I always need to punch holes in leather. This is the third punch I have bought. The other two were useless…this one works with ease. There is nothing I have tried it on that it did not work effortlessly on. Very little hand strength is needed. I’m 63 and my hands aren’t as strong as they used to be. It’s nice to find something that really works and works well.

Liegt gut in der Hand, fühlt sich sehr Massiv an! Habe an einem Stück Leder Gürtel alle Durchmesser ausprobiert und war von dem Ergebnis überzeugt! Saubere Löcher die durch die Übersetzung ohne großen Kraftaufwand fertigen lassen!!! Das umschalten auf eine andere Lochgröße erfolgt etwas streng! Fazit: Die Lochzange macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck!

Ottimo prodotto, finalmente "Made in Germany". Avevo letto recensioni molto buone sul sito tedesco di Amazon che puntualmente ho verificato. Ha forato un cuoio dello spessore di 4 mm come se fosse burro. Se posso dare un consiglio: è utile porre sotto al cuoio una protezione per la piastra perchè la facilità con cui si perfora il cuoio può danneggiare la punta.
