Rasps are a knowledge based tool. If you know rasps, you probably wouldn't consider a rasp at this price point, and if you don't know rasps, you probably won't appreciate the quality of this rasp. That should be enough review for most of you...for the rest, here is a lot of info.Rasps are used for removing wood quickly, and have aggressive cutting surfaces.Most machine made rasps are not quite the match for a hand stitched rasp, usually.The teeth on a rasp should all be at the same height, the more irregular they are, the rougher and more torn the rasped surface will be, after rasping.Nice sharp teeth that are all the same height do the best job of removing material quickly, and not tearing up the wood in doing it. A good rasp leaves a startlingly smooth finish when used properly.A ' safe edge ' means the tool is not stitched on either edge, and will not mark the adjacent surface.The rasps I received were sharp, and fairly even height, so they work well, but the safe edges are NOT safe, just untoothed, as the teeth extend over the edge. To be safe edges, you will need a couple minutes with a grinder. For the price, these are exceptionally nice, but they have plastic handles, so you might be rehandling them.

Decent wood rasps are hard to find unless you want them badly enough to pay $$$. These are surprisingly well made, at a VERY attractive price. The teeth are well cut, evenly spaced and appear uniform, and the cut is not as coarse as one unuslly finds in low price rasps. Great for the occasional need without breaking the bank.

I have used these rasps a few times now without problems or concerns. The addition of a file blade is a nice useful and welcome touch.

The wood rasps are of good quality and are a nice set. I got to use them some on a big project and I’m glad that ordered them.

I am not a woodworker, artisan or anything like that. I am an old lady who wanted to enlarge holes in wooden birdhouses without using a drill with a huge bit. Had zero idea how to do this! I googled how-to information and found out about wood files. Read reviews on several sets, chose this one, and I am delighted that I did! I used the round and the half-round files and, in no time, had enlarged the holes by 1/4 inch! If I had needed even bigger holes, it would have been very easy to do. Sanded the edges with sandpaper that was included. Worked perfectly!
