These come in handy for small touchups. I have a little workshop and all sorts of files for various tasks. These are very small for fine work. I use them to take off burrs in plastic when I drill a hole, or to widen a drilled hole. I’ve also used them on ceramic and plastic. They worked on glass in a picture frame that I wanted to soften an edge on. I wouldn’t use these for wood. I haven’t tried them on metal but I think they’d be good for that if it’s a very small piece and fairly soft metal. If you are using these all day every day, you may want to upgrade. They’re great for the weekend hobbyist but I don’t know that they would hold up long-term in a production environment.
