I like the sharp edges and compact size plus it’s a fixed blade style opposed to a foldable spade which seems more durable/ reliable. Could double as a chopping tool in a pinch. Plus the cool pouch it comes with makes it easy to attach to a backpack or molle panel .

I like the fit and finish of this shovel. I had bought a cold steel shovel but they have fallen pretty hard.I love the sheath as it has actual hookups for carry on a pack (could be thicker for sure) and I like the tempered steel. What I dont like is the lack of weld on the neck. Even cold steel had a weld...Another thing I don't like are the pins. These need to be replaced. If you take this out and the handle break (it's wood guys it happens) you better have a way to cut those aluminum pins off to fix the handle. I'd use a screw or make some wooden pins like a dowel. Will update if anything changes for the worse.

The shovel came with a nasty bur on it, but that can be fixed easily. The wooden handel is simple and would make replacement super easy in a pinch. The shovel itself is so light you really cant beat it for the pricepoint

Very well made and capable of handling all my needs. Shocked rock for a fire ring and dirt for a refuse hole. Everything is solid and put together well without being cumbersome.

Very robust construction, stamped from >.070" thick steel overall and holds an okay edge on the side for use as a crude axe. Has replaced my hatchet in the outdoors. Wooden handle can easily be carved and replaced.

Perfect for archeology. Easy to use in a 1x1 or any tight spaces, sharp edge can cut through roots well.

Light and robust. I've sharpened the edges and use it as hatchet as well

Just received my shovel to go with my kit . I'm very impressed with this product, although I have not got to use it yet. I will update later. The shovel is the perfect size for backpacking, or camping, light enough to carry, but seem very strong. The handle fits nicely into the shovel end, recessed to give extra strength instead of relying on the rivets only. And the rivets are of a good size and not loose at all.The shovel head itself is quite thick steel, shaped for digging or trenching, with rolled edge on top to place foot . Edges are ground well, fairly sharp but they will be rounded after a few rocks I'm sure. All surfaces are smooth, with no flaws, just like the handle. The sheath s durable, well stitched, and reinforced with rivets. A loop on the back to attach o pack, and one on top as well. it folds over the shovel and snaps in place so as not to fall off.I think this is a winner. Worth the money.Overall length is approx 22" and width is 6 ".

This shovel made it through one year with me during my back country canoeing and camping trips. It's a little beat up but still in excellent shape. I was by no means easy on this thing, it held it's own digging through roots, hitting rocks and kept coming back for more. One pleasant surprise was how effective this shovel is at limbing small trees for firewood. Due to it's shape and light weight, it's actually easier to use than my hatchet for this purpose. I never would have expected a shovel to be so good at tasks typically performed with a hatchet, but it is.I am impressed with the overall durability of this shovel, but keep in mind that it is not made of stainless steel, which means it will rust if you don't take some care of it. After a year of use in the woods, the handle is drying out as well, and needs a little bit of oil. (Which is a small price to pay)Lastly, I was a little annoyed with the black cover because it is very easy to lose if you put it down somewhere in the leaves and brush. I used some extra spray paint on the handle of the shovel and the cover and it's much more visible now.Generally speaking, this is an excellent, no nonsense tool and I'd recommend it.

It's very cool looking , and decent quality but I much prefer my cold steel special forces shovel
