These are quality walkie talkies. I’ve used this model for years and when one of them malfunctioned, the customer service team honored the warranty and I got a replacement that I’ve had for 4 years until last week.I just ordered these a few days ago, they work right out of the box. Same model as before. Batteries in, charge up, great range. Useful around the house and property instead of texting, because they clip to your belt or go in your pocket.Very sturdy, reliable, charge lasts a good 16 plus hours.There’s a hands free operation, too. Loved that the base charges both radios at once overnight. We used it to communicate between two cars on a six day road trip and here's what we found:Good:As long as both cars are close to each other, the clarity is good. For the most part, the batteries lasted for more than 5 hours without needing a charge. The were also simple to use.Bad:Even on the empty road with a clear line of site, I would roughly estimate the range to be less than 1/8 of a mile. This can be troublesome as dealing with traffic (and semis) the range would be shorter and you wouldn't know until you are in the trailing car in a zone with no phone reception, you have to pull over and you can't communicate with the front car (happened twice). Also, at one point, one of the radios decided to stop working and shut off a couple of times out of the blue. This only happened once so we were never able to figure out the root of the culprit.Conclusion:For big road trips it's worth having these with the redundancy of a cell phone. Just ensure you have a plan for any situation and ensure other users are aware of the plan. What worked best for us was to ensure we acted like a militaty convoy, knowing the speeds, distances and planned stops along the route, followed by constant communication for unplanned stops and mitigating highway idiots.

We joined an off road 4x4 club and communication from the front to the back on dusty roads is essential. The club recommended this type of radio. And being able to know which trail to take at intersections, when we’re all stoping to meet up or take a break. Or knowing about stopped or progressing on coming traffic on tight trails and making sure the whole pack is staying together and not loosing anyone is vital, before your fun run turns to a search and rescue trip.I like the size. The speaker is plenty loud enough to hear conversations, and instructions. Came with rechargeable batteries. Can be charged on the go while monitoring. Also a desk top dual charge included. Simple to use, once you know how. So many uses, from work place, to recreation. In my case caravans. Will also come in handy when parking and backing up an RV.So far very happy, also like knowing there is a 3 year workmanship against defects warranty, just a little peace of mind.

Got these radios to use while evacuating hurricane because cellphone service can be overwhelmed. Easy to use but the range is a factor while in the vehicle . Seem even a couple miles between trucks became scratchy and difficult to understand each other but they did there job and we were able to stay in constant contact with ease. These radios are a must have in your hurricane bug out bag.
