I see all kinds if tips in these reviews, but have not seen the method that I landed on with the help of the YouTube. Cheap and fairly easy, Lowe's is as far as you will need to go. It works for removal and replacement.OK, get a short length of medium sized chain. A little too long won't matter it needn't be exact. Remove one of the bolts from the fan clutch pulley. Find a bracket mounting bolt nearby (keep in mind which way you are going to be turning the fan clutch nut) and remove the nut from it. Place the fan clutch pulley bolt through an end link in the chain, and screw it, firmly, but not tightly back into it's original hole. String the chain over to the bracket mounting bolt, find the shortest length that will reach and feed the last link onto the mounting bolt and again loosely, but firmly, replace the nut to hold the chain. Viola, you have chained your pulley in place to imobilize your pulley. You can likely find a bracket mounting bolt in the other side for tightening the new clutch back on. I hope this helps. It meant the world to me.

So far it’s performing fine but I feel like it’s not cooling as good as the fan it replaced which may have not been bad. I replaced simply on miles but I have not suffered and loss in MPG and it doesn’t let my temp get above 195. I have a tow coming up and I see anything significant, I’ll update. Also, I went with a 180 degree thermostat and it’s keeping the temp around 190-195 with this new clutch. The old clutch kept it closer to 183 with the new thermostat. I’m not sure if there was an update to it. 2004 F150 new body.

Exact fit 2006 F150 XL Supercab 4WD 5.4 Triton. My truck no longer sounds like a jet when driving. Here's what I did, which may or may not work for you: Remove the air intake tube (1 bolt). If present, remove the wide plastic cover over the radiator and shroud (plastic pins, no screws). Disconnect the fan shroud (2 bolts) and slide a large piece of cardboard between the shroud and the condenser/radiator to protect the fins. You DO NOT need to disconnect the radiator hose; instead, remove the LH cam sensor. Huh? Why? Since you won't be disconnecting the radiator hose, it's easy to break the sensor during the following steps if not removed - it only takes 60 seconds. My truck had the NON-electric fan clutch. I used a 36mm wrench on the bolt. It's removed normally: left=loose. Adapters, clamps, oils, special tools are NOT needed - but the wrench must fit EXACTLY so don't try a 35 or 37 or standard. You have to strike the wrench hard and fast with a hammer - I mean hit it hard and FAST - speed is more important than strength here. You'll get better with each swing. After that's done, take a break, then remove the fan, clutch, and shroud together by tilting and rotating the shroud while pulling everything up. It's tight and it sucks, but it WILL come out this way. This is a good time to inspect/replace the belt and water pump, especially if you have a lot of miles. Take note: you really have to smack that wrench fast and hard, I wouldn't recommend a dead blow hammer at all. You need metal striking metal. I used 4-lb one-handed mini sledge which took 3 or 4 swings before I hit the right spot. Installation is reverse of removal - remember to take out the cardboard at the radiator and reinstall the cam sensor. Installed in July 2022, OK six months later.

After the original clutch fan on my 1999 F-150 was replaced with twin 16" SPAL electric fans which surprisingly increased MPG by a whopping 9%+, I had to switch back to a mechanical fan due the connector used to connect the fans to the relays and wiring melted due to the high amp draw. I needed a quick temporary solution until more heavy duty, ceramic connectors were purchased and delivered to redo the fan wiring.I purchased this OEM clutch and installed it in about a minute without the fan shroud which no longer fit after having installed a 2-row Mishimoto all-aluminum radiator and a K&N intake. Even without the shroud coolant temperature stays right at 188 consistently with normal daily driving. During rush hour traffic coolant temp climbs to about 192 which is pretty good considering that daytime high temperature here in TX has been in the 98-105 range so far this July.I have since switched back to the dual SPAL e-fans, 1 activated by thermostat, and 1 activated by AC switch on, which keeps coolant temp right at 185, maybe even too cool. This OEM clutch and its accompanying fan definitely got me quickly out of a bind though. I put the clutch and fan back in their boxes and am keeping them in storage just in case.Note that neither clutch nor fan comes with hardware. The OEM hardware would have taken 5 days to arrive at the dealership so simply went to the hardware store and purchased 4 grade 8 stainless steel bolts, 5/16-18 1/2 in long if I recall correctly. Bolted right in and are nice and shiny. I also didn't even use a fan tool to install it since its thread is a normal thread which gets tigher the faster the water pump pulley spins. Pump pulley rotates counter clockwise while fan rotates clockwise to tighten.Motorcraft YB3041 Fan Clutch

Looks great, I would have felt better if it said Motorcraft on the part though but it worked beautifully right away and I think it looks like a quality product. Releases when cold, haven't tried it on a hot day yet.

It's definitely worth the extra money when compared to the Hayden. It was pretty easy to install, and my local Autozone had the required tools for replacement. The original was well worn and was grinding and noisy. The new clutch went on easily and all the noise was gone. As a Motorcraft product I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts another 200K. I don't think I'll hesitate to get another.
