Perfect for those new to the hobby. If you are looking for the cheapest best option and this is it (there are cheaper but they are not the best). I wouldn't start with a model of any lower quality or with any less features than this one. They aren't kidding when they say its quiet. Honestly sounds just as quiet if not quieter than a modern dish washer or dryer. You could easily have this set up anywhere in your house and just hear a consistent hum. It's not grumbly and annoying either, its just white noise. The tumblers performance seems good so far, I am running sea glass through it now. I like that it has a larger barrel. It's wider at least which makes it easier to reach into and in my opinion allows the parts to tumble better because they have slightly more space to fall when they go round each turn. I haven't been nice to the thing, letting it collect dust and mud as I check things. It's held up to the grit and grime of tumbling. I'll clean it fully once this session is complete but I don't want to stop and clean every time so I'm just letting it go and seeing what it can take. The settings are simple to understand and the display is nice and clear letting you know exactly where you are in your process. I usually just scribble the info about what is tumbling on the front with a dry erase marker which is great with this enclosure. Another cool feature is it will keep the current time saved in the event of a power outage so you can just plug it back in and go. If you are just starting out, don't go with the $40 Walmart entry level kit they offer, upgrade to this one, it'll be well worth it. Buy once, cry once. Otherwise you will go through 2-3 of those cheaper models before deciding the noise is bothering you regardless of how well they work. Enclosed is the way to go.

I love the quiet of this thing! WOW its amazing that its so quiet yet still tumbling rocks! They have come out so nice and yes you can get the top off much easier than the other chepest version (with the yellow drum) we got that one for our sons first rock tumbler and he loved the process of it and having so many changes happen during rock tumbling but he and my husband together had to get that top on and off. It was ridiculous actually that they make that tumbler that way, I do not recommend the yellow tumbler to anyone,. But this is totally worth the money to have a quiet one and an easy one to get on and off. and it looks nice on the counter. so bonus

This tumbler does not work. It stops all the time. It never gets through an entire cycle. Do not waste your money just for the sake of the brand name.

Holds more than the standard and is much quieter. Does have a low, rhythmic thud like sound but is drowned out by pretty much everything. Feels strong, good quality and looks good.

Yes, this is absolutely worth the price and is a great little machine. I am not an expert tumbler by any means, but this machine produces stunning results and is designed very well. I was very surprised by how quiet it actually is. We actually have ended up keeping it in the dining room and it is probably a little quieter or just less noticeable than the window unit a/c and dishwasher. It is kind of a calming white noise. The grit that comes with it isn't that great if you want really smooth and shiny, I bought that elsewhere pretty quickly. But the machine itself is very well designed and easy to use. It is the perfect solution for anyone that needs or prefers to tumble inside or doesn't have a lot of extra space

So, I decided to get this rock tumbler, promising quiet vibes. Turns out, it's the ninja of noise – it sounds like a washing machine stuck in a spin cycle, and I'm starting to believe it moonlights as a DJ with a penchant for perpetual beats. But guess what? Tonight, it finally hit pause on its current cycle. Sweet silence!Hopefully I have a few more nights before my kids notice and set it up for the next cycle.

Got this for a present for my partner and he loves it.This one was a upgrade from the last one he has, it has a bigger barrel. And it really is super quiet. It's out in the garage and every time I'm out there, I keep thinking I have washing on. Highly recommend.

This thing has so many layers of soundproofing redundancy built into it, that people found it soothing and often used it as a white noise machine. It got a lot of rocks tumbled that way.Which is a huge step up from being driving mad by the never ending sound of falling rocks.Would recommend as both a rock tumbler and an exceptional white noise machine, but better than a normal one, because the sound its making is a real base sound that is actually shaking things a little.

Is now half way through its first month long polishing cycle. So far is working very well, and the results are good

After getting to the 2nd grit cycle, it was to run for 6 days. It stopped after 5 hours then shut down. Then when i tried to restart it, it stopped after an hour! This is my first time using this product, it broke before I even had the chance to complete my first rock rolling process. This was my bday present.
