The tool catches the littlest bit of needle for pulling through, making it easier to quilt.I haven't purposely used the thread cutter yet but it did catch and cut a thread while I was using it! I had to unstitch quite a few stitches so I'd have enough thread to knot.Though it's a bit large for me, I can wear the tool on my fingers while I'm stitching with no problem.The two built in thimble areas are convenient.UPDATE: After the thread cutter cut another working thread, I broke the cutter off and smoothed out the edges.I still really like the tool, the thread cutter was just in a terrible place.

I do a lot of hand sewing through very thick layers. This has saved me. I use it almost every day. It works just like you need it to. It hasn't let me down once. Very well thought out product.

I bought this tool to use for hand binding my quilts. It made pulling my thicker thread through the quilt binding a breeze. Much easier to use than a pair of pliers.

I was skeptical about this tool, but figured—it was supposed to relieve an issue that i definitely had been having, i figured, it’s worth a try. I’m so glad i have it, no more coming up with ways to push my needle through thick sections of fabric. I can now actually grab and keep a hold of it with this tool. It has some “slippage†to it because it is metal grabbing into metal (the needle) but if you orient it properly and grab tightly, it works just fine. I recommend for sewers who are hand sewing thick, physically challenging pieces. I took off a star for the ridiculously high price. If you can buy it elsewhere for cheaper, definitely do that. $14 is an absurd price for this tool.

I am hand quilting one of many blankets this winter. This little gizmo is easier than the usual pair of plyers!It takes a bit to figure out how to hold and use but WELL WORTH the small effort.BOSOLUTLY LOVE THIS!
