....Olde Thompson is THE standard, for style, quality and performance ~ I have used a set daily for the last 45 years ~ my "olde" pepper grinder is still in perfect working order, so I'll shine up my first pair and use them on my table ~ this latest Amzn purchase of the two new see-through Thompson S+P grinders will be used in the kitchen for food prep ~ likely, for the next 45 years!!!....buy, use + give the best......Z

Olde Thompson makes absolutely the best salt and pepper mills. They come with a lifetime warranty so will never need replacing. I have several that I have had for years and they work as well as the day they were purchased. The salt mills are corrosion free unlike many cheaper ones. I love the elegant design. It complements my favorite wooden pepper mill.

This grinder appears to be well made. The nut on top and the shaft that transfers the torque to the grinding wheel are make of metal. The top and bottom are metallic looking plastic, but not cheap thin stuff. The body as you can see is clear plastic. It grinds well and I am pleased with its operation overall. I down graded it one star for two reasons. They doesn't appear to be a way to adjust the grind and it doesn't hold a lot of salt. Given my usage, seasoning all manner of cooking, and other uses, I would estimate it would last between 2 and 3 weeks. It came filled with sea salt.

The grinder I received produces very fine, almost fluffy salt. A disposable mill by Thompson gave me coarse salt, but this will not. I loosened the top nut (all the way) as they advised, but the salt is still thin like snowflakes altho' it's filled with very coarse Thompson salt. To my knowledge, they have not responded to my last email. The mill is s very attractive and easy to use. Great if you like finely ground salt.

I bought a beautiful salt and pepper shaker from William Sonoma years ago used for dinner parties, and they needed to be replaced, and I was around, and I was thrilled to find them after all these years!

Salt mill was not adjustable and ground salt to almost a powder. Bought a different one and used this one for another spice.
