I originally bought this for the intended purpose of trying some Sashiko needlework. Before I got to that, however I was doing an amigurumi crochet project using a small gauge yarn and steel crochet hook. I often have to be careful that the end of the steel hook doesn't give me a blister on the palm near the base of my pinky when doing this kind of thing. This time I remembered I had the leather thimble and wore it on my pinkie to protect that part of my palm where the end of the hook would rub. It worked wonderfully and I was able to crochet for hours without hurting my skin.I will say that the elastic may not be the right size for larger fingers. I would recommend having some beading elastic or even a broken rubber band on hand so that you can adjust the size of the opening for your finger. There are holes in the leather and the elastic it comes with is just threaded through and tied, so you can substitute whatever you want there easily.

I bought both this leather thimble and the small round metal one. Both work. But, for me, I found that this leather one was more comfortable and worked just as well because I am stitching on lightweight fabric. For heavier fabric, I am guessing that the metal one would work better....

This is a nice thimble for Sashiko sewing. The elastic will have to be replaced at some point if used daily.

Simple, lightweight. Protects your thumb, finger, or palm. It all depends on how you wear it. Way more versatile than a traditional thimble. this is made of leather, but held together with elastic. This makes it sturdy and comfortable. Purchased it to sew "scout" patches to uniforms with shoving needles into my hand. Works great

I will try using another length of elastic thread to make this work. It was a great idea. Just won’t fit as is.

The thimble is fine, I guess, but the cord is unbelievably tight. I cut it out and replaced it with different cording I happened to have. It is also quite slick-I am finding that it is better to use turned inside out than the way it is intended. I wish I would have just made my own. This wasn't worth the cost.
