It grinds well, pretty consistently. The rotary shaft connection between motor and grinding disk is right where the coffee grounds up. So you'll need to clean up after each grind before putting in beans for next grind. I wish the shaft connection point is taller than the coffee grind holder a bit more so that it doesn't get grinds on it.

A compact form factor of a tried and tested product.Comprised of BPA-free Tritan plastic (appears to be the same darkened UV blocking material as the bigger version but this is not clearly advertised), a matte black fingerprint resistant plastic body, and high quality machined steel burr and gears. The hopper twists from the main housing, as well as the grinds container. One button on the hopper allows adjusting grind size, one button on the main body is a toggle for power.Hopper and burr are wipe clean, grinds container is hand wash.Don't let the simplicity deceive, this is a very capable machine. The adjustment mechanism is very precisely fit and has minimal wiggle resulting in very consistent grind sizes. On the most coarse setting, grinds were similar to a leaf based herb mix in size. Grinds very fast when coarse, ~15 seconds for a full hopper. On the finest, comparable to cocoa powder or powdered sugar. Finer grinds take longer, a minute or two for a full hopper. With settings from 1-15, the variance of grind size is quite large and allows to fully match an individual's preference.I am more than satisfied with the capabilities for coffee grinds and I expect to remain satisfied long into the future. One of the main reasons I use grinders of this variety is to make popcorn salt, a fine powdered version of salt for better application on popcorn.I can consistently get uniform size each time, without fail. No random large chunks, no oddly shaped long bits slipping through, just consistent results. While grinding large, coarse rock salt on the finest setting the motor does not stutter or indicate it is struggling at all and seems overly equipped for its purpose, which I can't complain about.Form factor is arguably an improvement over the bigger brother for 90% of people that don't freshly grind every day or multiple times a day, providing easier portability, general accessibility, and makes storage exponentially more efficient.

Design leaves a lot to be desired. Difficult to disassemble and reassemble with no visual clues or indicators. Ground coffee gets into the mechanism and is hard to clean out. There are way too many grind settings. 4 or 5 would be adequate. There must be more than 30. Instructions are poor. A video would be nice. Having said all of that, it does produce evenly ground coffee quickly.

OXO Brew Compact Conical Burr Coffee Grinder Prologue: I had a real problem trying to review this wonderful OXO grinder. I just kept repeating myself about its’ quality. It is as heavily built as my old Kitchen Aide pro grinder I have used for almost 20 years (finally used it up). If you are considering a small coffee grinder, then this is the one you should get. Top quality, and a very reasonable price. Anyway, below is my attempt to review this excellent appliance. Ah, the smell of freshly ground french roast. It cannot be beat. The use of conical burrs produces a grind that is not burned from the action of high speed whirling blades. Grind your beans, don’t beat them to death. The OXO grinder is in the top tier of cost, and quality. Most of my kitchen utensils, from the whisk, silicone cooking utensils, vegetable peeler, and my mandolin are made by OXO. This is a brand of unquestioned quality for consumer grade products. The grinder has any setting of grind size that could be desired. A grind size for espresso, and a grind size for the “coffee pot†style of brewing when camping, are available. A coffee grinder is an item that needs to be of excellent quality to obtain good results, and this OXO grinder, although small, is of the highest quality, and should last for years. If you are considering buying a small coffee grinder, then just get this one, it is superior.

Our previous coffee grinder stopped working after years of service. We have been on the lookout for a replacement. I prefer fresh ground coffee to the pre-ground coffee at the store. I have a place in TX that I like to order my coffee from (2 lbs whole bean). We've been using pre-ground, while we were searching for a new grinder. Fine for my wife who likes terrible (in my opinion) SB pre-ground coffee from the store. I drink my coffee black, so I prefer a better-quality coffee. We have some other kitchen products from OXO, so I was aware of the company and that they make quality products. This coffee grinder is no different. I stick with medium ground coffee, and I have not found any troubles with the machine. If you do a lot of finely ground coffee, it can build up some grounds in the part where the machine transfers the ground beans from the whole bean storage to the ground coffee part. The finer the ground, the more easily it can collect. This same happened with our other machine though. Even with a medium ground, it happens, just less frequently because smaller grounds have a tendency to stick together. Luckily this machine fits fairly easily in your hand and you can shake it from time to time. You will need to clean your machine though. Please keep this in mind. I like that this machine is smaller than our previous one. You couldn't shake it. This grinder takes up less counter space than some other grinders, which is nice if you have a small kitchen. The grinder works as expected. Recommended.

I was very excited to buy this grinder. A new model from a reputable brand! The bigger brother is highly acclaimed. To my bitter dissapointment, upon arrival I have discovered that it only operates at 120v (although Amazon UAE incorrectly displays that it can operate at 220v). Good that I have checked user guide before plugging-in. That could be loud and dangerous if I did.
