This slicer is a step up from the cheap pot-metal wire slicer we used for so many years. This one is sturdy, comfortable in the hand, and the wire is tight. It has what appears to be an excellent method to keep the wire tight, or to replace it, if needed. It comes with a second wire so it should give years of service. Worth every penny! I’m so tired of cheap junk that break the second time used. I’m so tired of slicers that are so hard to use that you have to wonder if there really is a wire in place. This slicer works easy, is easy to hold, the wire can be adjusted, and comes with an extra wire. The only thing easier would be to get someone else to use it!

I've used this slicer for several years without issue and have even purchased them as a gifts. Recently the wire would pop loose with each use. I installed one of the replacement wires provided with the slicer and realized the tensioning wheel had cracked so the wire would pull loose with any applied tension. It also renders the spare wires useless. Upon further inspection, I found the wheel had a defect (bubble) in the plastic at the failure location. No question the defect in the wheel material resulted in its failure. I addressed this with OXO on their warranty form and they sent me a replacement. Thanks!

I like the OXO brand and have a number of their items in my kitchen drawer and sink. Thought the cheese cutter would also be as useful. I was wrong. While the cheer cutter is very sturdy and durable, the wire is quite useless. Tried to cut some hard cheddar and the wire came off. Went to reattach it and discovered it will not tighten properly plus the wire bent. Wondered why they included extra wires and now I know. My previous cheese cutter wore out. That cheese cutter's wire never once broke free of the unit nor did it loosen up.OXO messed up with this design.Steer clear!

This is one of the best hand held cheese slicers ever!The thumb adjustment to tighten the slicing wire is a stroke of genius.I have tried so many others.... I am glad I found this slicer.. FYI. Not they are needed but you might want to buy spare wire kit if you have heavy handed users.

The last one lasted about 12 or 15 yrs, misplaced the other cutting wire but it was time to rplc...the geared expander was gunned up and corroded....not bad for 15 yrs!!

After daily use of our old OXO cutter it finally wore out.This new version solves the two problems with our old cutter: the wire loosening over time and eventually breaking off from the slack.We only wish the width was adjustable. Your supposed to angle it but that gives you random sizes. If you cut firmly against the rail this version cuts prices at 0.300" where the old version cut them at 0.200". Not a huge deal for me but my nan is on a diet and the change in size is hard to adjust to. It would be nice if the roller moved up and down to adjust size. Other than that it is a great product and the extra included wire combined with the tensioning wheel should more than double it's lifespan.

Este producto es esencial para las personas que gustan del queso. Este en particular se lo compré a mi mamá ya que el nuestro es igual pero nos lo compraron en Estados Unidos cuando Amazon todavÃa no vendÃa cosas en México. O sea tiene más de 5 años y sigue funcionando a la perfección. Viene con un repuesto del cable que es el que en realidad corta el queso, el cual no hemos tenido necesidad de reemplazar. Es muy robusto y tiene buen agarre para cortar quesos más duros. Es bastante ancho por lo que se puede cortar una rebanada grande sin problema. De igual forma no tiene problemas cortando a profundidad si lo que se requiere es una rebanada gruesa. La marca es sinónimo de calidad y practicidad.
