This fireplace brush is very flimsy and didn't last. The brush fits into a plastic housing that is secured to the handle. I've gently used this brush less than a handful of times and the housing broke. It is now useless. A pretty poor design. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Handle of brush is good and solid (cast iron maybe?), but if you look at photo the bristles of the brush are off to one side and that is really the way they are - stuck that way and they were sticky to the touch - wasn't really able to sweap ash with it, the ash kind flew off, but then also stuck to the bristles. I couldn't exactly get them into the dust pan. I had written the seller to say maybe it was packaged wrong and the bristles were damaged, but now that I look at the photo I am thinking maybe that is the way it was made and it was just not the fireplace brush for me.
