Received this very quickly to go with the Pfister R89-7CBE shower faucet trim. This is REALLY deep for installing into the wall. We only need it for the shower but it can also work along with a tub.We had to make some adjustments to allow for that depth but we expect it will be a good quality product once in use. It's appears to be quite an excellent quality material and well made compared to the smaller, lighter weight valves we've used.Fast shipping.

Price-Pfister plumbing components are top notch and extremely well made. I originally purchased a Delta set at a local big box and returned it because I just wasn't happy with the look and styling. I purchased this valve because I liked the look of the handle set. The handle set was very well made and I was even more impressed with the valve. What makes it so good, well its the details that matter and Price-Pfister really pays attention to them. First the valve is flat on the back and has pre-drilled holes on ears so that you can attach it to piece of lumber. Most valves are not flat and don't have any means to attach them to anything. If you're not a professional plumber this is nice feature because you can mount the valve perpendicular to the wall. The Delta set I purchase was held in place just by the piping which is fine after its soldered in place but makes it extremely difficult to mount it in the exact position you want it in. Since there are any reference marks mounting the valve perpendicular to wall has to done by eye. which isn't easy if all you have are studs. I was very careful with the Delta, and it look good but after I put up the walls you could see that it off With this valve I was able to position it exactly very easily and it went in perfect. The second nice feature that this valve you can either solder the copper directly to the pipe or use the FIP fitting if your using PEX. Most other valves are one or the other but not both (the Delta had FIP which complicated the installation since I was using copper) Third the valve comes with a plastic cover that you use only for rough in and while prepping the wall and installing the tile to protects it until your ready to install the trim. The cover is also used as a guide so that the protector is flush with the finished wall so you can install the valve at the right depth. With the Delta, it was all guess work.A bit more expensive than other plumbing fixtures but well worth it.

Stem is brass, like pictured. I wanted something heavier duty that would last. The cartridges can both be removed and replaced if needed over time through a smaller access hole in the tile (left open when tiling) that the other model by Pfister that I considered and purchased but then returned because it had a plastic stem and too big an access hole. I bought an open box deal and saved a ton and the valve works fine. NOTE- If you experience low flow out of one or both hot/cold right after installation, remove the valve body and clean the screens at the back of the cartridges. They can get clogged with flux in the lines from sweating new pipes.

I purchased a Pfister tub and shower combo kit online, thinking I was getting a phenomenal deal compared to the price at Lowe's or Home Depot. I was unaware it did not come with the rough-in valve included. My husband, a contractor, was also shocked because he said they typically do. I was glad to find these on Amazon. They were a better price than anywhere else I could find them. They were easy to install using the enclosed instructions. I am glad I chose the one with the brass stem. It seems more durable as we have had no looseness or wobbling so far. We also like the compatibility of this valve with using Pex piping. We just redid our whole place with Pex because it is so easy to install and work on if needed.

Installed easily, and the valve body appears to be well constructed and finished. This went into a shower enclosure, and in retrospect, I'm kind of sorry that I didn't also install a flow controller, as I don't always need the full stream of water.

Some advice, do not take the valving out of your box before use or it might go missing like it did to me so I ordered this 0X8-310 A as replacement, worked great, perfect fit

Worked great. Exactly what we needed. We do not have a tub so no need for the tub spout, and we just capped it. No leaks. Great quality.
