If I could give this kettle/hot pot 10 stars. I would! I use this multiple times daily for hot water, tea, soup, hot chocolate, ramen, and more. Its size, quick heating, easy cleanup, and comfortable handle make this versatile kettle my “go to.†It heats to boiling so quickly that I learned to not put it on the actual boiling setting. I only set it at midpoint and have boiling water or contents in just 1-2 minutes! It’s faster than a microwave and uses less energy, more versatile than a Keurig, and definitely beats using a stove-top kettle. I wish the cord was retractable or wound around the base, but it’s short and easy to manage so not a big deal. I highly recommend this for home use and it would be perfect to use at the office or in an RV!

We bought this hot pot for a camper on the go. We were pleasantly surprised to see how spot-on the advertising is: It boils water in about 2~3 minutes which is great for tea, and keeps it boiling long enough for a package of ramen. The diameter is perfect for the standard sized and circular ramen bricks; "fancy" ramen that is a little larger you kind of have to finesse in while boiling but it softens up fast and works well. Even though we stir it anyway, the heating area seems even as we can watch the noodles circulate from top to bottom while boiling. We haven't made anything terribly messy in it except for one dish that was designed to simmer and boil down to preparedness. It was a little rough cleaning burny bits off the hot plate (don't forget, do NOT use metal to clean it) but they are completely gone without a trace after a few boils so I can't complain much.I was a little concerned about the plastic nature of the pot itself in the beginning, but after a nearly 3-digit number of things prepared, it is holding up very well. Other comments about the steam vent's placement are accurate. Seems like common sense, but don't put your hand over it or your hand will scald. I guess they could've moved them to the front of the pot for ergonomics. *shrug*I'm not sure if it's this model or just our hotpot or what, but for some reason we only get about 5 minutes of constant water boil out of it before the hotpot clicks off. This isn't a huge issue but gets a little weird when making mac&cheese and you spend a minute *not* boiling the water, then things go back to normal. Speaking of mac&cheese, note that the size is 32oz. Typical instructions say you'll need 6 cups of water (ie. 48oz) so don't expect to be able to do wonders!Last but not least, we are thankful for the temp control, but it doesn't seem to provide a true variance in temperature. It's just a variable smooth non-clicky knob, seems either "warm" or "boil" are the useful positions as an end-user and in-between is just...there.Bottom line: Everyone seems to be paying twice as much for hotpots designed to do what this one does, and the other ones seem to have weird issues. Despite its shortcomings , we have been happy with this hotpot and would buy another one in a heartbeat.

This item is very practical, versital and economical and works as described. However there are 2 drawbacks to becaware of. #1, the lid sticks and therfore is a burn hazard when trying to wedge open in use. I suggest not closing it completly when cooking. #2 There is no on/off switch so as soon as you plug it in, it gets hot. Don't wait to add food. Also, when done, remember to unplug ASAP. If you can live with these 2 things, you will love this product.

I bought this for a specific use to melt butter for a yearly corn roast I do for our church congregation. Instead of bringing a propane stove and pot and melt butter in that I wanted something a little easier to deal with. This pot being that it pours really fit the bill. We used this and it worked extremely well at the lowest setting it's still would boil the water in the butter but just barely. It was able to keep the butter hot to be ready when we needed it for the corn. We poured it directly into butter cans then people use brushes in the can to apply the butter. This made our job much easier than carrying all of that extra equipment to the park where we have the roast. I could see how this would work well for just heating up water for tea and keeping the water at the temperature that you want it to be at. It looks nice It was not that expensive and it really worked well for what we used it for.

The kettle is nice that the top is wider than the base, so what is being cooked is not hampered by a small opening. The lid is about 6" diameter, including spout and handle it's diameter is about 9.5". This makes it wider than a normal kettle, so I find no advantage here for travel. The kettle heats quite rapidly, also using it to cook food in a container has not melted said container (noodles in a ziplock bag), which is good.Although the heat dial shows to have multiple steps between Warm and Boil, the thermostat only changes once; from boil to warm. The cable is part of the kettle so can not be removed, unlike most kettles on the market. Also there is no off button/position so the only way to turn it off is to unplug it.The lid is VERY stiff. This means that if you are not very careful hot water can spill onto you.I am unsure if there is an auto off feature if the kettle dries out, but (due to all that is missing already) I sincerely doubt if it has one.I thought this would be a better kettle due to having the Protor Silex name attached and think that a better kettle with more functionality can be purchased for the same price.I hope that this is helpful

we got this for a trip to cook some things for our toddler. for the price, it did its job good enough. the heat control isnt ideal and u have to be really careful or the heat pad may burn things (must keep stirring). but honestly a great package for small simple tihngs, heating up soup or what not. great for small trips to hotel.

The good: it boils water very fastThe bad: it always boilsIf you are planning to use it to keep food warm, or try some slow cook recipes, you will be disappointed. But if you just want to boil water, or quickly heat up a canned soup, or cook a pot of noodles, you will be happy. The temperature dial is deceiving. I think it should be called a “power off interval dialâ€. But that will be too long a name and not cool. That is really what it does. I believe it cuts off the power to the heating element intermittently based on where the dial position is. The more to the left, the longer the intermission. It is easy to clean, except for a few spots around the handle and the top where food can easily get caught and missed during the wash. If I were the designer, I’d get rid of all sharp corners. It doesn’t have auto shutoff. So make sure you unplug it after use.The vents on top of the lid are dangerously hot when it’s boiling. There should really be a big warning sign there.I’m keeping it as I need something to use in the office to cook instant noodles for lunch when I forget to prepare a healthy meal.

So I have tested this product and it works as advertised however after reading some reviews saying that there's no Off Switch and that spark comes out of the plug once you unplug to turn it off well it's not true they don't understand how to use this thing let me explain it to you..So once you finished boiling your stuff simply turn the temperature down to the lowest setting this will turn off the element since you were boiling it at the max temp by default setting it down to the lowest temp will force it to shut off to allow it to cool and will only come back on once temp reaches below the setting which gives you 2 mins after boiling and turning it down to the lowest setting for you to safely unplug it to turn it off safely without sparks. The reason it sparks is because this device is using 1KW or 1000 Watts so in comparison a Mini Fridge would have about 150-200Watts on average so this thing is basically taking as much power as 5 mini fridges so obviously when you pull the plug on it while it's still on and drawing power sparks are going to be an issue however as I said previously by turning it down to the lowest after boiling it at max temp it will auto shut temporarily which allows you to pull the plug safely since it's not currently running at 1KWAlso wait approximately 10-15 seconds after turning down to the lowest setting to ensure it turned off before you unplugI hope this review helps your purchasing decision I have been enjoying this so far very convenient. But I do need to add 1 more thing the cable length is very short so if that's an issue for you do not purchase this.
