The RAM Universal No-Drill Laptop features a heavy-duty steel mounting base designed to fit a variety of vehicles. Using the front bench or passenger side seat rail bolts as attachment points, existing hardware is used to secure the laptop mount base in the vehicle. The included RAM Tough-Tray is spring loaded to accommodate 10" to 17" laptops. The tray features four adjustable retaining arms with rubber grips. These arms can be moved both vertically and horizontally, enabling a custom fit for varying thicknesses of laptops and access to ports or drives. A screen support and USB light are also available to accessorize the tray. Hole patterns on perimeter of tray facilitate the mounting of additional RAM systems to support phones or other electronics.

I’ll start by saying that this is a fantastic laptop mount. It is incredibly sturdy and well made, easily supporting my 16†MacBook Pro. I have no concerns about its longevity or quality. It stays in position, it does not excessively flex or wiggle as I type, and it is completely silent without any rattles or squeaks.My ex works for GM as an automotive engineer and he and his coworkers used this same model of RAM Mount for their laptops in their test mules while out testing the vehicles and logging data. That’s why I didn’t hesitate to spend the $300 on it. If it can hold a laptop securely in place while doing high-speed maneuvers in a deliberate attempt to roll a vehicle, it can certainly hold up to me entering data into my CRM/sales system while stationary in a parking lot.Installation was pretty easy, but you will need some tools to get the job done. You’ll need to unbolt the passenger seat rails from the vehicle frame to install the mount, and you’ll also need some tools to assemble the mount before installing it in the vehicle. Took me about an hour to assemble and install it in my Cadillac XT5. Tools used: impact driver, hand ratchet, T50 driver (seat rail bolts), PH2 driver, 3/8†nut driver, 1/2†combo/spanner wrench. I used metric sets on my car and SAE on the mount hardware.Another purchaser left a 1 star review and posted a video stating that they were shorted on parts. That reviewer was not shorted on parts, he doubled up on screws when attaching the clips to the laptop tray (each clip gets a single screw but it is understandable why he believed each clip got two screws). The printed instructions included with the mount are not very clear. However, there is a fantastic 20 minute YouTube video that RAM has put up on their channel which walks you through the installation procedure. I highly recommend watching this video before installing the mount.My only complaint is that the mount arrived with some minor cosmetic damage (see photos). It doesn’t impact the performance of the mount at all and it’s nothing that will make me return or exchange the mount. But for the cost, I’d hoped that they would be a bit more careful about product packaging and ensuring that things don’t end up scuffed and scratched in transit.I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again, and I’d be glad to play a couple extra bucks if it meant the individual pieces arrived foam wrapped or with some type of padding to prevent scrapes and scuffs. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the scuff/lack of protective padding in the box.
