My daughter plays the trumpet and it can be very loud. We live in an apartment, and try to be mindful of our neighbors.I purchased this item so she can practice at home. The item slide into the top of trumpet to mute the sound. It mutes to a respectable level but can still be a bit loud depending on your setting.End of the day I’m happy, my daughter is happy, so we recommend this item!

This piece was larger than anticipated. Very nice looking. Unfortunately for us, we order the wrong mute. DOH! I recommend this to others who need this kind, it is made with quality.

It works ok, but feels cheap. When I play, sometimes it falls out. Also, it limits airflow so it is a bit uncomfortable to play with it on. Overall though, if you need it, it isn't too expensive and it works.

I purchased this for my son who started playing the trumpet in 6th grade band. It has helped my sanity as well as the neighbors while he practices at home!!

My teenage son started playing the trumpet this year. I love to encourage him to practice, but sometimes my ears just can't hack it. I purchased him this mute for his trumpet. It works well. The sound is muted for my ears, but still loud enough to keep him interested in playing his horn. The only trouble is it vibrates on some notes and makes a bit of a rattling noise. But for practicing indoors, it's a win.

The product works great in the apartment setting. It had the ability to bug my neighbors, but not enough for them to tell me anything. When the neighbor were waking heavy it is easy to remove and the sounds intensified. It was loud enough for them to come back down and asked to lower the trombone. I proceeded to*whomp whomp whomp* them one last time ask my wife closed the door.
