We bought 2 of these to strap to our station wagon to drive 3,200 miles cross country from PA to CA. We wanted to put our clothes in them to free up space in the car. Naturally, having never used these before, we were worried they would fall off and all our clothes would be lost instantaneously.We should not have worried. These are extremely durable and weather resistant. They held up in rain, cold, high winds, and extreme heat. After the first day of driving, I was not concerned at all about them falling off.They are also very spacious. They allowed us to fit much more than clothes. The majority of our 4 person families' things for a week could fit in these bags. They are huge, but not too unwieldy to carry around hotels. I don't think you would want to leave them strapped to your car overnight because there is no security whatsoever.Now I know they can also be brought on airlines, I'm interested in the idea of using them on a European road trip or something. They will fit onto any car.Worth every penny. I cannot recommend these enough.

This thing is solid and huge, and it stays dry. Super easy to secure. Also comes with clips to make it like a duffel bag so you can carry it to and from the car. Drove from Miami to Houston and a few rain storms without a drop getting inside. The straps do make some noise with the wind turbulence. This can be easy solved by wrapping a paracord or bungee cord in a spiral form on each of the straps (like a corkscrew) and this breaks the turbulent air thus eliminating the noise. It’s hard to tell in the photos but there’s a red and blue bungee on each strap.Noise aside this is perfect.

I bought this bag to carry my deflated inflatable paddleboard in. The measurements of the bag were smaller than my paddleboard! So I assumed it would work.ALAS, the *opening* to the bag will not allow my paddleboard to fit.SO, I was like... well... I'll just pack other things in there.This weekend is it's first trip out—and I borrowed my aunt's inflatable kayak, and decided to carry THAT in the bag.And it barely fit—but the fabric below the zipper has already ripped.Really frustrating, because I bought it to open up space in my car by adding paddling gear to my roof rather than inside my car—and it turns out it's not gonna work well for that. Or anything, I guess. Because it's ripped now and the return window is closed.

Ordered 2 bags for a family vacation to the mountains of north Georgia. I had very limited space in my SUV traveling with 2 kids, so having the extra space on top of my vehicle seemed like a good idea. Having the option of using the duffle bags as a regular bags was also a plus. Filled them with winter gear, jackets, board games, toys, etc. Drove from south Florida to North of Georgia. The bags performed extremely well. We had a couple of heavy downpours and the interior kept dry. The side pocket did get a bit wet in one of them, but nothing got damaged. The material seem durable and strong. The zippers seemed rugged, however I did not forced them and treated them gently. Would recommend this product.

Great heavy-duty duffle. It is truly waterproof and has good capacity. Bought two for a recent vacation. I've used big carriers on top of the car before, but they become too heavy and difficult for a single person. These bags are just the right size.First day out, in broad daylight, someone slashed the straps and stole one of the bags. Eventually got bag back from police but bag was also slashed and is no longer useable.I would give it 5 stars, however the overly complicated strap system is very frustrating. After over 2 hours of re-reading instructions, watching u-tube videos and struggling with straps, my neighbor came over with heavy-duty straps with ratchets, like the kind you move a refrigerator with. That did the trick! (Of course now I am purchasing heavy duty straps for my neighbor, due to the theft incident.)

I drove from SF Bay to the Outerbanks of NC with this strapped at the back of my roof rack, and it held up great. I had a couple of days of rain and everything stayed dry. Right line is a great brand. I also have their SUV back carrier bag and SUV tent. All quality and durable products.

I’ve never left a negative review for anything before but I had to for this bag because it was fairly expensiveAs others have said, it is not waterproof at all, which has caused the camping chairs I had in there to show noticeable rustThis bag is also more difficult to get into than it should be, there is no “quick access†or anything. Once you strap it on the roof it’s pretty tough to get anything in or out of thereMy biggest problem with this bag is that all the Velcro that covers the zippers is just glued on! It blows my mind that this isn’t stitched. The very first time I opened it all the Velcro came off, because the glue is less strong than the attraction of the Velcro to itself. It blows my mind they ever let this out of the factory like that. They must have done absolutely no quality control testing.This might be a good bag at half the price if you didn’t care about it being waterproof. I wouldn’t buy again.

We drove from Lake Huron to Nova Scotia with the Rightline Car Top Duffle Bag on a Prius C with no roof racks. It stayed put for the whole trip. Anytime we heard noise from the straps (2-3 times, maybe?) we tightened them up or tucked in a loose end. The video tutorial helped us get started and know what to expect. This was a trip saver for a long road trip in a tiny car.
