Had these for about half a year now. We originally bought them because the temperature dial in our freezer is easy to accidentally shift (but hard to read); figured we'd get one for both the freezer and the fridge.They do exactly what they're meant to do, and I prefer this mechanical style to a digital alternative. The hook design works well in the freezer. Less so in the fridge -- I just keep it in the back and glance at it every now and then; sometimes I wind up knocking it over/off the back of the shelf, although it seems to have held up either way.Just like the photos show, they have the safe zones marked for refrigerated/frozen food, so you don't even have to look that closely when checking temps -- it'll be clear if there's something wrong. Nothing fancy, but it doesn't need to be. Good purchase.

This Rubbermaid oven thermometer is easy to read. It has a useful temperature range - the dial starts around room temperature and it actually does work at around room temperature. It responds faster to temperature increases than my older thermometer did.

it gets hot. The temperature needle goes up. It cools down the temperature. Needle goes down as well. Works just fine. Not the most stable but works just fine.

Per America's Test Kitchen, ovens don't heat evenly. That's why you turn your food around during cooking. They recommended having one thermometer on the front of the rack, the second on to opposite side back of the rack. It gives you a more accurate determination of when to rotate the food rather than just "rotate halfway through."

Went from 5 stars to 3 starsI ordered this 2 June and received it 4 June and it went straight into the freezer.14 July 2022, I had to defrost the freezer and took everything out including the Rubbermaid and Copper thermometers. The Cooper is fine. The Rubbermaid has 3 water bubbles inside it and it has condensation inside which fogs up the ability to read it. I looked it over and it looks sealed all the way around but obviously it is not. You can still read the Rubbermaid thermometer but it should not be allowing water/condensation inside of it. It still works well because it records the same temp as the Cooper. In the morning, I will take my Rubbermaid thermometer out to the deck and let the sun hopefully dry the inside of this Rubbermaid thermometer out if by morning there is still 3 water bubbles in it and condensation. It is too late to send this back or I would. I hope the water inside issue does not warp the numbers or anything else inside the thermometer over time. BUY THE COOPER thermometer.OLD REVIEW BELOWI purchased a new small manual frost freezer "Danby" because frost free freezers don't last as long today. Wanting to keep it simple with less things to break - manual the way to go. However, most appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, etc) last only 7 years on average now because all owned by China, built in China or use Chinese parts and smaller appliances like microwaves and little things like thermometers last even less long. I read hundreds of reviews by people who lost thousands of dollars in frozen meat/food when their "new" freezer died or did not freeze food properly. I wanted a thermometer that worked but I didn't want to mess around buying batteries for it every few months. I looked for a restaurant thermometer and these had to be NSF certified which eliminated most of the Amazon thermometers except the 2 below. I purchased both of them. They arrived at same time and they went into the freezer at same time. They both registered the same reading and have been working for well over 2 months now. I have much older manual frost free freezer I am going to buy 2 more and put in there. Just tested it. Definitely able to validate the actual temperature of the oven. Couldn't be easier to use & to read. Size is not obstructive when in use. Display of black digits against a white background. Excellent tool for the kitchen.

El congelador de mi refrigerador empezó a fallar, la máquina de producir hielo no lo producÃa y los alimentos no estaban lo suficientemente congelados, puse unas cubetas para hacer hielo y tardaba de dos a tres dÃas que congelara el agua. Definitivamente habÃa un problema, pero querÃa saber que tan lejos de los menos (-22°C) habÃa en el congelador y poder llamar al técnico de refrigeración para explicarle la situación. El técnico reparó el refrigerador, era problema de insuficiencia de gas refrigerante. A partir de entonces el congelador ha funcionado a la perfección, y lo mantengo permanentemente dentro del congelador. El termómetro tiene en el dial un área de color rojo que me indica rápidamente si la temperatura es adecuada (sea en el área de la nevera o del congelador). Muy buen producto y lo recomiendo para detectar rápidamente si su nevera está enfriando adecuadamente. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Bought this item because my new cooker has a temperature dial which is not very accurate. 1 smidgy turn could add on 10°. Lags behind the cooker getting up to temperature but give it a few minutes it gets there.
