About this item

  • Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a perennial herb, widely recognized for its bright yellow flowers that transform into fluffy, white seed heads, often considered both a weed and a valuable plant.
  • Every part is edible—leaves are used in salads or cooked as greens, roots roasted for a coffee-like drink, and flowers brewed into wine or jelly—offering a bitter, nutrient-rich taste packed with vitamins A, C, and K.
  • It grows low to the ground with a deep taproot, thriving in full sun to partial shade and almost any soil, making it a resilient, ubiquitous presence in lawns, gardens, and wild areas.
  • Traditionally, dandelion has been used in herbal medicine as a diuretic, liver tonic, and digestive aid, with modern studies exploring its potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
  • Quality: All Dandelion seeds packaged by Seed Needs are intended for the current and the following growing seasons. All seeds are stored in a temperature controlled facility that is free of significant amounts of moisture.
  • Quantity: Seed Needs offers generous quantities. You can share with friends and family, or you can save the extra seeds until the following season, if properly stored.
  • Packets: Each seed packet displays an artful illustration of the variety to be grown, as well as detailed seed sowing information on the reverse side. They measure 3.5" wide by 5" tall.
  • Promise: Seed Needs will never knowingly supply GMO based seed products. The vast majority of our seeds are open pollinated & heirloom, with the exception of a few hybrids.
  • Germination: Seed Needs packets contain some of the freshest seed available. Direct from the growers. If sown correctly, you will begin seeing results in only a matter of days.
  • Freshness: All Dandelion seeds are packaged in tear resistant and moisture resistant packaging. This keeps the seeds a whole lot fresher than the competitions selection!

Delivery was fast and prompt. I took a while before planting them. They took a couple weeks to begin sprouting (I laid them on wet soil--did not push them into the soil, as this is what would normally happen in the wild). The weather has been really cold, even freezing her in the California desert. But, they are slowly sprouting up...look forward to them growing large.

Dandelions are supposed to be weeds and you would think that they would be easy to grow. I order this months ago and planted them in the proper season. Everything in my garden has grown and bloomed except for these. It so happens that just today I found a wild dandelion by the road and decided to sow those seeds. Yeah, I wouldn't buy seeds from this company any more. I'm very disappointed. Nothing. Not even dandelion weeds.

These seeds are great except to really utilize the amount that you get per package. I highly recommend using a proper germination process to get them started. As you know many uses that the dandelions can be used for and therefore I recommend taking them the time and germinating properly.
