I started getting into drying flowers and have been trying out a few different brands of silica sand. I got this silica gel (Silica Gel Flower Drying - 3 LB Silica Sand Flower Drying, Color Indicating Silica Sand for Drying Flowers, Flower Drying Silica for Wedding Decoration) as I was intrigued by the easy to pour out container. This silica gel is fine grains of sand mixed with color changing beads to let you know it's absorbed as much as it can and needs to recharge.Out of the ones I've tried, this was the least messy when pouring or scooping out. I found across the ones I got, the silica gel is similar in the fine grain and all had color beads. This one had the least amount of color changing crystals. They all dried similarly but this one did seem to yellow my white petals a tad bit more than others, perhaps it's too dry, I did leave it in the silica gel for over 2 weeks by mistake. But I also left the other ones in for the same amount of time. You get a lot in the easy to reclose container. I wear a respirator when using this stuff, it can get dusty and float around and you don't want to be breathing this in. Overall, it did what it was intended to do and preserved my roses. I'll have to experiment more with other colors of flowers. When dried, the petals are really delicate and half of them fell off but that could be that I overdried them and user error in handling them more delicately. More experimenting to come, this has potential. I like it and I am glad I was able to get it to try out.

I used this to remove the last bit of moisture from some plants since I didn't have a food dehydrator (which I would've initially used).I actually ended up getting this one as well as a different one, because one originally got lost in transit, so I ordered the other, and then they both ended up arriving within a day or two of each other. The other one just came in a plastic bag, but that was within an airtight plastic container (like the lockable ones for keeping food fresh). This one didn't come with any extras, but it did come in a sealed plastic jug, which makes storing and pouring really easy. I'm hoping that the jug itself is airtight (after I broke the seal when I opened it the first time), but either way, I love that these are "rechargeable" by putting them in the oven for a certain amount of time.I haven't had to do the oven thing yet, though, because I didn't see any color changes to the granules after using them that first time. I think the plants were already mostly dried out from air-drying, but this definitely made them bone-dry, as I needed them.I'd never used these before, so I was expecting them to look like the really tiny beads that you find in the packets that say Do Not Eat, the ones that come with brand new shoes or backpacks or something. But these are significantly smaller, being more like grains of sand or sugar than really small BB pellets.I'm excited to put these to more use this coming spring and summer when I find four-leaf clovers and other cool plants that I want to preserve without deforming.Because I've never bought these before, I can't say if the price is decent, but I think that it is. Especially considering you can recharge and reuse them!It would've been nice if this came with an air-tight container to use with it, but I like the jug, so I'm not docking any stars for that. It's a great product, and I'd recommend it.

Great size and quantity of beads to help keep the moisture out. I use this to keep my 3d filament nice and dry in a basement. I have the filament in a plastic box and the beads in the bottom of the box. I have a humidity gauge and it shows a noticeable improvement compared to the humidity in the rest of the basement. I haven’t noticed much of a color change, but it’s cool that it changes color as it gets used. So far, very easy to work with and seems to work great.

Got this for use with my AMS, and it's surprise! This is a SUPER FINE sand style of dessicant, so you have to use a smaller mesh bag and put that inside of your dryer container to keep it from spilling everywhere. Not a big deal, but be forewarned. Does work though!

HDURCIR 3 LB Silica Sand Flower Drying is what you need to beautifully preserve your flowers for casting in resin.Make sure you wear glasses, gloves and a mask while working with it.The flowers stay intact while their colors stay bright and fresh. It is reusable. I sifted it into another container to separate any fallen off petals or other debris. It’s ready for the next time I want to dry flowers. 😀

It's a big jug of desiccant! Personally I use these to fill small sachets that I drop into boxes and bags full of items that I don't want to get damp, and so far this seems to be working out well! I'd imagine it will do a great job of drying out anything that you decide to isolate it with, which has worked out well for me so far.
