The filter/silencer on my compressor was hit and the pipe fitting sheared. I looked at the maker's suggested part and it was almost 3 times the price as this one.received the filter housing, and noticed the silencer inlet was a larger diameter. Tried the cap from the old one, and it fits like a charm.Back up and running, and it sounds as quiet as ever

I have a 10 CFM @ 90psi 60 gallon CH compressor, which isn't the quietest or best balanced compressor available by any means. The stock air filter did seem to have a smallish intake on the filter, so I added a 1/2 nipple and a 1/2 to 3/4 coupler to mount this filter as an upgrade. Doesn't seem to quiet the beast much, but very well made and a little easier to change the filter than the stock unit.

Fit and finish is quality. It take off a couple of dB, but in sound that a lot of noise. Great product.

After reading many blogs on how to quiet smaller compressors like in your garage. Solberg seemed to be the favorite muffler. Using many different brand names, paint and labels, there are only about 2 companies making compressors in the U.S. and the parts are pretty much inter-changeable.I just rebuilt both my large and small compressors. The small one is a Sears 33gal. and LOUD. If you happen to have the cheap, non-changeable, plastic air intake filter holder that costs less than $5-8, you know your stuck. Unless you want to machine a part, the following is a lot easier than moving the machine to an out-building. It also avoids building an insulated box that will probably overheat your compressor.Order this 1/4" muffler. It's measured in pipe thread size which is totally different than bolts are measured. To avoid cutting a hole in the plastic shroud covering the pump and motor, buy a 1/4"X2" pipe nipple and one 1/4" coupling. Avoid using pipe dope or teflon tape. They may breakdown and get inside your pump. Screw the nipple into the coupling. Then thread the coupling onto the muffler. Then CAREFULLY screw the assembly into the existing plastic holder on the pump (be sure to take the round filters out of the plastic holder first). Hand tighten only to avoid cracking the plastic holder. Make five complete turns of the muffler into the plastic. When you're done, you want the intake hole on the muffler (shiny metal grommet) facing down to keep dirt out. This muffler has replaceable filter elements requiring less than 30 seconds to change out. When you change out the filter, don't un-thread it from the pump. Just take the cap off, holding the assembly in place with your other hand.Decibel meter reading results taken 2' from pump: Before new muffler-94db. (this causes permanent hearing loss in only 1 hour). After muffler installation-87db. (this takes 4 hours before permanent damage). Reading w/new muffler but 15' from pump-81db. (Allowable all day w/no permanent damage). By the way, no meter? There are free apps for smartphones if you don't have a decibel meter. I used one since I couldn't find my meter. Hope this helps out. HUH? WHAT DID YOU SAY? :>)

works but where the pipe is crimped to body is starting to get loose after changing the filter a few times.
