This is, hands down, the most important kitchen tool when you want to fry something. I rarely do it, but when I do - I need my bamboo handle wire spider! This one exceeds expectations. Large base, bamboo handle that doesn't get hot - perfect for frying wings, or even adding eggs to a pot of boiling water. The weight is perfect for tired hands, the quality is exceptional and it was designed for function, not to just look pretty in your utensil holder.

Finally found the right spider basket. Light weight and feels like traditional bamboo spider skimmer, but better construction quality like more expensive (bulky) stainless steel skimmers. Not sure about other size baskets available (smaller, larger) but this one is perfect.PROS- perfect size basket (6") for medium saucepan and wok- great for lifting out hot french fries, cut broccoli, etc- ideal length and proportions- perfect weight- feels very balanced in hands- identical angle pitch from cone base to angled handle- great round handle, smooth edges, nice hook loop- stainless steel construction, no sharp edges or sloppy welds- sturdy spider basket, even without cross-bar supports- dishwasher safe on upper rack, does not discolor- decent price, great valueCONS- basket might dent if banged on table or mishandled too much- tough to degrease basket with brush/soap alone- only good for large items, not a super fine mesh for cleaning oil debris

Fried fish in very hot oil. Handle was long enough to avoid the heat and to pick out the fish that was cooked
