I have been using grabbers for nearly 30 years. Most of the ones that are on the market are cheap and don't last. There are some pretty good ones but for the most part they are lightweight and break fairly easy. There are some like Unger that are very good. They're durable and work well. Now my review for the Steel this grabber:IT'S AMAZING!Pros:Very heavy duty - made of steel and plastic -so far picks up everything I want two to, as long as I can handle lifting up the weight it picks it upVERY durable - The handle is made of hard plastic and has a good grip that has a lock on it - The shaft is STEEL - Yes steel, not not aluminum, and it seems like it will not break. I'm pretty positive it won't break or won't crush (within reasonable usage). The jaws are made of thin steel, that's still seems strong, they will bend but then you can bend them back and covered with a good grip . It has a magnet in it that doesn't seem like it's going to fall out.Good length - it's 36 in long so it can reach a decent area. It's not so long that you can't pick it up and not so short that you can't reach anything.Bright color - it's yellow so it's easy to spot. Anybody who uses grabbers knows that you put them somewhere and forget where you put them. The bright yellow color makes it easier to spot from across the house.Cons:Very heavy - The Steel grabber is quite heavy which makes it difficult to pick up heavy things. The claws are wonky - The simple truth is they're not tight like a claw should be! I think I might be able to fix this but the clamp piece is plastic so I'm not sure. I hate these claws. It's not a deal breaker but it does make it more difficult to grab things.Overall:I can deal with the weight and the wobbliness of the claws. I would recommend these for anyone who has good strength in our arms and a very decent grip. I would not recommend them for elderly as they may go to pick something up and then either drop it or hurt themselves with The combined weight of the grabber and whatever they're picking up. I do highly recommend these I give them an A-. The price is very good at $35. Most of the cheap ones out there cost about 20 $25 so you're getting a better products only a few dollars more. You might have to tweak it to make it work for you but it is worth it overall. My only recommendations for manufacture would be to tighten up the claws and maybe lighten the shaft a little bit. Heavier grabbers make it very difficult for disabled people or elderly, weak, or those with diminish ability in their arms and hands will not be able to use this grabber well. I can tell you that this company will get it right and I will continue to buy their products. Thank you Steel for making something that everybody should have been making forever!

This is my second Steelgrip and I got it because I can't find the first one. I suspect it has been "borrowed". I've had several pick up tools over the years and most are wimpy and can't hold a 1 pound object. These are stout and will work. Sensitive enough to pick up small sticks in the yard and trash that has blown in. Really handy when the dog decides something needs shredding and there are a number of small pieces to pick up. If someone "borrows" this one, I'll buy another and go hunting for the scamp that has my Steelgrip.

This is our 2nd and 3rd purchase of these grabbers! They last forever—we just needed them in more places around the house! Extremely durable! We love them!

3YR UPDATE: It died. One of the claws must have been bent too far because it wouldn't close anymore and, because these are "riveted" together, there was no way to self-repair. Would love to get another but I could get 4 inferior grippers at the price this is now selling for so it may be a while.1YR UPDATE: Ironically, the weakest flaw for the "Steelgrip" is the grip itself. While the handle is a nice rigid metal that can take a beating, the metal used in the grip itself seems to be aluminum and can apparently bend in certain circumstances. I still think it's the best reacher/gripper I've ever had and worth the money but they could certainly improve it by replacing the grip metal with something stronger. Like actual steel. Minus 1 star.ORIGINAL REVIEW: If you need a grabber, you can stop looking. This is the best by far and worth every penny. Solid construction, good gripping, strong enough to lift heavy clothes, pet dishes, delicate enough to grab a mug or bottle from a high shelf.

The cheap pick up tools just break, Steelgrip is rugged and lasts a long time.

I’ve used these grabbers for years and have never had a problem with them. This one would not close all the way. I had to push the handle into the grip to where it will close all the way. To keep it in that position, I had to duct tape the shaft to the hand grip. I should have returned it but a hassle. The work around is Ok. For the price it should work right.

Good length but grips are not very good for picking things up

It is heavier then most. However it is very rigged. I’m a volunteer trash picker for my city and I pick about 1-2hr five days a wk. I have held it closed and scraped at dirt to help loosen things to pick up and it still holds up. It is approx 5 months in and still working strong. Only picker I would recommend

Top quality but beware it is heavier than others and might be a problem for weak handed people..
