Sure 49 whistles are excessive but the price was too good to pass up. They are bright and colorful, make a god-awful shriek when blown (which you need in an emergency) and they are super light weight. We added one on every key chain, one in every first aid kit (home, car, boat, etc) and we put one on each life jacket on the boat. There were extras and we shared them with older family members and other boating friends.

Along with some pepper spray, I got these Aluminum Emergency Survival Whistles for some friends who were going camping, as well as for some self-sufficient lady friends who are used to doing most things on their own. I actually tried these whistles before I dispensed them, & I found them to be quite loud & they appear to be quite durable. The folks I gave them to were quite thankful. With the price being quite reasonable, I recommend these whistles for their entended purpose

I ordered 2 boxes of 49. One was short a whistle. I tried a couple to see how they sounded, and they hardly worked. So I went ahead and drive them all. Out of the 98 that I ordered 41 didn’t work. I should have known better
