This is an excellent cable for Paul brakes. It will not work with Avid's Shorty Ultimate cantilevers. This cable is 330 mm long and that's more than long enough for both the Paul Touring cantilever and the Neo-Retro cantilever. In fact, even with the Neo-Retro brake, there may be a temptation to cut the cable but my preference is simply to coil the excess cable.If a roller type straddle cable hanger is used, the wheel must be removed and then reinstalled after the cable has been inserted. This is for the double barrel model, there is a single barrel version (380 mm) that does not require this procedure.The cable is made of stainless steel.As for brake performance, the cable isn't as thick as a brake cable and it shouldn't be. Because the cable is thinner, no brake lever travel is wasted tensioning the straddle cable so braking action is immediate. While some brake cables are compatible with Paul and other brands that use the same type of cable anchor, braking performance will likely suffer.This is a high quality cable and if you have a compatible cantilever brake, it is an excellent choice.
