This was a requested Christmas gift for eight-year-old granddaughter. I only witnessed it for a few minutes last night, but it had a soft , pleasant sound and she seemed to like it a lot. It is compact, seems pretty sturdy, and comes with an instruction book which she was reading right away. I think it is supposed to be calming, too, which is a bonus.

A six year old boy loves this so much, he took it to bed with him! And the sound is beautiful so even his parents didn't mind!!! And it's beautiful and has its own carrying case.

I have been into tongue drums for quite some time now & after experimenting with several steel tongue drums from different brands and sizes, I've gained some valuable insights. Here's a quick recap of my journey:I started by purchasing a variety of drums to compare their qualities. Generally, the drums I tried had similar issues. They often produced a tinny sound, and many had notes that didn't work properly, aka dead notes. Additionally, I noticed that the build quality varied, with some drums having problems like weaving coming off around the edges.This experience led me to explore the advice of experts, who suggested that the size of the drum isn't the only important factor. The shape and material of smaller drums might offer better sound quality. With this new perspective, I decided to try out smaller drums.Among these, I encountered a 8" drum that had a pleasant, sweet sound, but it struggled with a few notes, particularly the higher ones. However, my search ended when I discovered the Balmy Drum, a 10" 11 Tones model. This drum stood out from the rest. Not only was it reasonably priced, but it also had no issues with dead notes. Its sound was beautiful, full, and clear.In conclusion, the Balmy Drum proved to be the best among all the options I tried. Its perfect blend of sound quality, build, and value made it a clear winner. This journey has been enlightening, and I hope my experience helps anyone looking for the right steel tongue drum. And for anyone wondering, later I tried their 6" and 14" versions as well, and they are a solid option too.

the 14 notes are nice to have. well made, looks nice, booklet is not particularly useful. sounds are generally clean and clear except for the center note which is somewhat dull.wish they also would make a 15 "three octave black piano note" pentatonic one as well. that would allow one to play two together, side by side, as if it were two steel drums. that would enable one to play virtually any song if one has a musical background and understand signatures.
