Just as good as the A/C from what I can tell. Saves money this way.

This is a heck of a job and takes some time BUT it sure beats paying a shop to do it.Now, as far as quality and value go there can be some improvement...As far as the core goes it's not a bad dealBUT the foam wrap isn't quite enough to wrap the core like factory, overall I recommend this product BUT as I said there could be a few improvement.

OK, the rad unit is great. It is well worth the money. I give it a 5 star. What I would like to give a one star is the effort it takes to put this rad in. I own a 2003 Chevy Silverado and when you see where the brilliant minds at GM decided on heater core placement, well like I said earlier, PACK YOUR LUNCH. It's going to be a long day. If you have not done this before, you might want to get some help.Oh, and by the way, your going to need a special hose removal tool to get the water lines disconnected from the old unit. I bought a Lisle 37000 AC/Fuel line disconnect kit and that worked perfect. The kit comes with 6 different sizes in it. The next to largest size worked on the Chevy. You will also have to have your AC unit drained of all coolant so you can break the lines when installing the Core.

I went with this one as have used other tyc products in the past with great luck, this one however falls short. It is thinner than the original, and is about 6†short on foam to wrap the edges like original. The main problem is the angle of the bends is off slightly. I had to bend the trans dipstick tube out of the way because they ran right into it. The pass side port is so close to the firewall I really had to stress it to put the heater hose connector back on, and out of curiosity I tried to take back off and there was not room to put the quick release tool behind to take back off. I feel like it’s stressing the swivel joint at the core and overtime it’s going to leak. I was afraid to try to bend the outlets and messing up the joint. I gave 3 stars because it is cheap, does produce heat, isn’t currently leaking and if was a 1hr job probably good deal. For the amount of work this job is though, and the cost of recharging the a/c if it starts to leak, I really wish I’d spent the extra $80 and got the gm one that lasted 22 years.
