Clean The Pump to Extend Life

Step 1: Remove the pump cover.
Step 2: Remove the Impeller cap by placing your fingernail underneath the small lip.
Step 3: Remove the Impeller and clean the parts with soap and warm water.

UPDATE 2: 1 YEAR 5 MONTHSThis fountain is one of the best purchases I have made. It is still going strong and my cat loves it. I had bought a spare pump because some people said their pumps died quickly. I have not needed to use it. I have ordered a new fountain simply because the original is starting to get discolored. Absolutely LOVE it.UPDATE: It's been almost 3 months since I have bought this and it is still working well. This fountain has encouraged my cat to drink more fluids and has been easy to work with. For the price I paid (about $23 USD) it has more than paid for itself. The biggest downside is that the filters for this fountain are going to be a recurring cost, but that's a small price to pay for the convenience and benefit they provide. I will be updating my review to a full 5 stars.___________________________________________________________________________________My cat drank, what seemed to me, very little water from his bowl. I decided that I'd get him a fountain because I heard that cats like to drink from running water. After about two days of introducing the fountain, he has started drinking a lot more water. So, that's good.When I went to put the fountain in his drinking area, I noticed that the plug was very short. I had to place the fountain elsewhere and also use an extension.I also noticed that within 2 weeks the pump became very weak compared to how it was when I first used it (or maybe even 1 week, I'm not sure). At first the pump was splashing water far enough that it would occassionally spill droplets onto the included mat (this is while using the white flower attachment). Now however, the water stays pretty close to the petals. I thought that perhaps the pump was dirty and clogged so I opened it up to clean it as per the instruction manual. The pump looked very clean and there was no debris in sight. I am a little concerned but right now it functions well enough.Giving it a full rinse is a little tedious because of the way you're supposed to route the wire. Basically it means you have to unplug it, carry the whole fountain with the plug to the sink, and clean it like that.Some people complained about noise level. I cannot hear the pump over the sound of running water and I find that sound to be very soothing.I greatly enjoy this product. I would be bummed if the pump failed, but I like it enough that I would buy another pump to replace it (ideally a higher quality one).

This is going to be a detail-oriented review. I love this fountain for SO many reasons.I have two cats; one is very picky about his water situation. I had 2 raised bowls for water- one for each cat. They picked their favorite water bowl, and solely drank out of that, spare a few brief licks for the other water bowl. Regardless, I changed their water every day and washed it the bowl with soap. Now, despite my efforts and acts of love towards my two cats, one would purposefully knock his water dish over almost every other day. Why? Because there was a hair in it. Because it had a tiny piece of food in it. Because it wasn’t full enough for him. Because it wasn’t fresh enough for him. The list goes on. Time and time again, I’d find his dish knocked over, with the entire bowl of water everywhere. He’d then look at me and scream, as if to say “this is your fault, momâ€.I had thought about purchasing a fountain for months; in my old apartment however, there was simply no place to plug one in. Having recently moved, I bought this fountain immediately, hoping to save myself some headache. Both of my cats were slightly weary of this moving water bowl, but after a couple minutes of inspecting the product, they both drank happily from it.I had no problem washing the pieces, or assembling it. I appreciate this charcoal filter that sucks up any dust, dirt, cat food, and cat hair to keep this water looking so fresh. I’m sure my cats appreciate this as well.One thing I thought was really interesting is how much water this thing takes! 5 full cups of water isn’t enough to fill it; you have to stand at the sink for a solid 3 minutes before it fills all the way up. Personally, I love this. On top of that, when the water begins to get lower, the fountain begins to grow louder. This is almost a signal to you, the slave, to fill their water dish, before they cry about it. If it’s entirely full, the fountain is extremely silent.100% recommend this product to ANY pet owner!

5/24/2023 UPDATEI guess I wrote this 5 star review too soon, the pump has stopped working 😡. I clean it every single week, have no clue as to why a brand new pump will not work. Now my enthusiasm for this product, is 5 thumbs down 👎ðŸ»ðŸ‘ŽðŸ»ðŸ‘ŽðŸ»ðŸ‘ŽðŸ»ðŸ‘ŽðŸ». According to Amazon the defective pump is not eligible for return/replacement. I have no choice but to order a new one. So I have and am very, very unhappy. Never had this problem with the older unit which lasted 4 years, with 1 replacement pump.I have a Maine Coon cat that loves to make a mess with water! When he was a kitten I had to find a practical, economical way to solve that issue. I found it with this fountain â¤ï¸. He loves the fountain & so do I, no more mess!He is 4 years old now. In four years, I have only had to replace the pump once, like after 2 1/2 years! It is very important to keep the pump clean in order for it to last, I can’t stress that enough. After 4 years, I decided to replace the entire fountain only because the weekly cleaning, with abrasive sponges and brushes had worn away the smooth surface. I thought the abrasive sponges would make it easier to remove the slimy film on the plastic parts, my mistake. I purchased the same exact fountain again because of the dependability, & quality, not only of the product but also because of the quality of the water. I add water daily and clean the fountain and filter weekly.If you are looking for a good, easy to clean, worry free, that produces quality water, without a mess, THIS IS IT ðŸ‘ðŸ»The additional filters and pumps are all available on Amazon for hassle free replacements. Very good product. Have 2 cats that both took to it immediately. Bert the betta fish can breathe easier now, the cats have stopped drinking from the fish bowl.This unit holds a lot of water, if you top it off you are definitely OK to be absent for a long weekend.

Love the idea of this. Can’t hear it at all, but my cat won’t go near it, so I am still turning on the water in the tub for him every night. Might be because he is 18 and set in his ways. Planning on getting kittens, so I will try it with them. Right now it is unplugged and just sitting on the floor.
