I love this little wheel! Even though I had seen a video with someone working on it I was still surprised at how small it was when I got it. But I got some clay out and threw it on and it actually works. I am very new to Pottery I've only had 12 weeks of lessons and that shows in the pots I made but that shows in the regular size pots I make too. But this proves you can throw pots on this little wheel and it's so much fun and you don't need a lot of space and it actually does not make a big mess. You still need a small bucket of water to work. I had a cup and it just wasn't enough because you still need to rinse the slip off your hands I was stunned at how much slip was created with these little tiny pots. It's very easy to clean up. Some people have complained that the tray around the wheel is useless because it's so small and that it's very difficult to remove for cleaning. But I find it's deep enough it doesn't throw water everywhere the mess 99% of it lands in the pan. And to take the pan apart the secret is not to pull I think what I found is it's to pull each side up towards where the connection is and then it just pops right apart without spilling and you can take it to the sink to clean it. I hope it's durable because it's just so much fun. And even if it only lasts 6 months it was only $35. The speed is actually really fast almost too fast you can't put it on the highest speed. It doesn't seem to slow down too much with pressure not enough to make a difference anyway. It is a little noisy especially when you are putting pressure on but really not that bad. It's a fun little gift. However that being said if you're using it to practice Pottery because you can't get to the studio or you don't want to buy a big wheel I'm not sure it's the right choice because this is a whole different skill set. I've made small pots like this on the big wheel at the studio this is a little easier because you can get closer but centering is different than in the studio I think because the position of this wheel it's on a desk so it's not below me maybe that would help. But trying to switch from using your whole hand to just using a couple fingers to Center is something to get used to. I used my hands at the studio just like I do on large lumps of clay but I can't seem to do it with this because it pushes the whole wheel because it's so small and lightweight. But I've only worked on it twice so with practice I'm sure I'll find the proper techniques. I'm really glad I bought it
