I build apps for Fire TV, Roku, and other platforms and needed a way to attach multiple streaming devices to my PC testing and taking screenshots. This device was simple to use. Simply plug in your HDMI device and the feed is available. I also use OBS Studio, a freeware video capture app to watch the feed in a PC window and record/take screenshots.

To my surprise, it worked way better than I originally expected. Holds up to the cam link 4k very well.

So i have a lot of old VHS tapes that I would like to get digitized, had a RCA to HDMO converter and needed to buy something that would take the HDMI source and allow me to capture that to my PC. That is where is this little nifty device comes in. Great price for a nicely built product that comes with a USB C to USB 3 converter as well. Used the OBS Studio software as recommended by the documentation and I was able to capture my first video in no time. It was easy to setup and use. I would recommend some minor edits to the documentation, otherwise I would recommend this as a good addition to your toolset.

I purchased this for the claimed "plug and play" feature. I've plugged it into two separate computers, both are running on Windows 11 Home. It doesn't work on either one, despite multiple troubleshooting measures. I'm returning and finding something that actually does work when you plug it in.

I ordered this capture card to use a spare Android phone as a "cheap" camera monitor for my Panasonic GH6.The capture card is small, and I like that the default connector is USB C; so I can plug it directly into my Samsung phone. There is an adapter included to allow for standard (PC) USB A connection. All have an aluminum shell, which gives a quality feel to the kit.My only disappointment is that there is no strain relief where the cable exits the body of the card. The sharp plastic edge will eventually cut into the cable. I will "fix" this with a spot of silicone; but this will take away from the clean look of the card. That said, the capture card works flawlessly for my purpose of monitoring my camera's 4k video output.

Plug and play. I purchased this so I could capture the video output of my FTdx10 Ham radio. It has a DVI output of its screen so I added a DVI to HDMI adapter and plugged in this HDMI to USB converter then plugged the USB into a laptop running Mint Linux. Started up a program called "Cheese", selected the USB converter as a video source and Bingo! video from the radio on my laptop. I can now see the actual radio screen remotely using a VNC program to the laptop. Love it!

I suspect a lot of the people giving negative reviews just do not understand what this device is used for. I bought a similar device a couple of years ago (Elgato CamLink) but it cost over $150 for nearly the same functions. Most people would buy this capture device because they want to capture HDMI output from something like an Xbox or Playstation, then upload the video to YouTube where they can add comments as the game is being played. Although I don't understand why people watch these types of videos, there are apparently millions out there who do, so it seems like a very popular type of content.Using this device is essentially seamless, no drivers are needed for Win10 or above. It is recognized instantly and ready to use once you plug it into any USB 3.0 port (USB 2x is not fast enough). However, you would still need some type of application software to do the actual capturing, and the simplest (and free) is called Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS) which you can download and install for no cost at all. The program is easy to use, although it may take a bit of time to configure it properly due to the huge number of options. You may have to watch some YouTube tutorials to learn how to optimize it for your specific type of video material.Even better than my CamLink, this generic device has built-in HDCP bypass, so no other intermediate bypass device is needed anymore. You do need a fairly fast computer (at least i5, but i7 is better), at least 8GB of RAM (16+ would be better), and a good video card (Eg. Nvidia with NVENC) to get smooth video. The only criticism I have is that the captured video is a bit high in contrast and sharpness, and there is no simple interface you can use to adjust this. The video is smooth and clear on playback when using the above hardware.

Worked straight out of box, still fiddling with the audio settings via OBS but think that is just a setup issue. Gets warm when using but nothing too bad. Good quality.

The "4K HDMI to USB C Video Capture Device" is a game-changer! The quality is excellent, and the included USB-C adapter adds to its convenience. Highly recommended for capturing high-quality video seamlessly.

This works much more easily than I expected. Really easy to install the software, had to change a few settings and then it was working perfectly. I had some old VHS tapes I wanted to convert digitally and it did the trick perfectly. So much so I’ve now got a list of friends wanting me to convert their home videos too.
