I tested this with 1080p 60fps on a 2015 MacBook Pro. I've had it connected full time for a month and haven't encountered any performance, stability, or heat problems. The first thing I did was open Photo Booth to see if it was recognized as a camera, which it was (though Photo Booth flips the image). I couldn't run OBS Studio because it requires macOS 11 or later.I was able get the A/V feeds connected in OBS Studio on a Windows 11 tablet. However that tablet is too slow to do the actual recording. I got about one frame per minute in the final video. The tablet does'n't have a fan, so when it gets hot it slows down a lot.The card's headphone out is 100% volume, so you'll need headphones with a dial volume control or you can connect an inline .

What I like - The HDMI signal passes through to a monitor and also passes to your computer, giving very flexible utility. The ports are well labeled, and I like the size and configuration of the unit. The USB cable even comes with a USB A and USB C tip option. What I dislike - The manual gives very minimal guidance on how to get the unit to work, and it depends on external software to operate. That took a while to figure out. I finally got it working on my i9 MacBook Pro by using Quicktime (a free program built into the operating system). I opened the program, closed the file selection window, selected NEW VIDEO RECORDING, and then selected the USB3 Video as the input source. Once I did all of these steps, I could see the video feed. NONE of these steps are mentioned in the manual. So . . . if you're a Mac user, then I believe I just gave you the missing piece of information that caused me problems, and the way to use free software already on the Mac OS. However, I do wish that the manual had that clarity and did not require me to do so much research and trial and error experimentation. It's a good device, but those missing pieces are annoying if you don't know the steps.

It just "works". Instructions are a little unclear on a few things, but a web search or two and just fiddling will get good color and sound recording. Can be used to record anything you see on your HDMI monitor. Excellent for game recording.Note: I have not tried the streaming capabilitiy, but that is more dependent on OBS instead of this device. This device delivers quality video and sound to the USB port.Comes with combo USB A to C and C to C (single cable with an adapter provided)I am using on a Mac with OBS.——————————How my star ratings work:* - Negative experience. Poor quality, serious design flaws, and doesn’t accomplish the stated description/goals. Not recommended.** - Low quality and design flaws limit usefulness. May partially accomplish the stated description/goals, but still not recommend.*** - Neutral. May be useful, but medium quality and design quirks limit its utility. Caution advised.**** - Positive. Good product. Good quality/design. Accomplishes the stated description/goals. I might buy again, but there might be better products. Recommended with caveats.***** - Very positive. Excellent product. High quality/design. Fully accomplishes the stated description and I’d likely buy again. Definitely recommended.

The USB 3.0 interface delivers flawless capture performance across multiple resolution options. The versatile frame rate support covers everything from smooth 1080p@60FPS gameplay to cinematic 4K@18FPS recording. The inclusion of microphone input has streamlined my streaming setup by eliminating the need for separate audio capture. The 4K 60FPS loop-out ensures zero quality loss on my gaming display while capturing.

I've paired this with an RCA to HDMI converter to transfer some old home movies. With tapes being a thing of the past, having them in a digital format is important. The setup for this was pretty straight forward. It includes instructions for setting it up with OBS, which is what I'm using. Once I followed the instructions, it worked as advertised. This has an HDMI output for pass through video, however I'm unlikely to ever use this since my intent is only to transfer to the computer. I've already transferred a few tapes, but figure I probably have 30+ hours total. Here's to hoping that it continues to work well for the duration.
