Welding/fire shield cloth worked well during use and also the material protects the surrounding areas without damaging the cloth during direct contact with the flame. Will purchase agin if needed.

Does exactly as advertised.I had to use a flame directly towards it and the blanket was able to withstand the heat of the acetylene torch with no issues.

I’ve had an Oatey soldering heat shield that’s made of similar material for over a decade. It’s still in great shape but it’s made of a solid sheet and I ordered these mainly for the hole and snap closure that allows them to be slipped around a pipe then snapped closed. While the material used to make this is similar to the Oatey version, they’re less than one third of the Oatey’s thickness which doesn’t give me a lot of confidence as to how effective they might be. Worse, the thin material combined with the fairly tight snap closure all be guarantees that the snap will pull through the material after several. Overall, these are a big disappointment and not something I’d order again or recommend.

First time use during brazing. It was on fire. The blanket itself was on fire and got two wires melted down.

Doesn’t perform like I thought it would, it caught on fire while I was trying to protect a small area from heat and especially fire. I guess I’ll keep looking for better options.

This review is for 2 Pcs Carbon Welding Blanket Fireproof Mat, 12" x 12" Opening Shape Heat Shield Mat, Brazing Heat Shield for Torch, Welding Pad for Plumbing, Fire Flame Resistant Cloth Rag,This is a pieces of a heavy felt like cloth with a hole and snap closure. The hole and snap allows one to put it around a pipe securely. This protects what is behind it and allows you to later remove it. There are grommets on the two corners opposite the snap closure to allow tying it up.When used carefully, this item protects areas well. However, this is flame resistant, not flameproof. An occasional sweep of a torch flame across it wont cause any damage, but pointing a torch right at the fabric for some time will cause damage to the cloth and eventually what's behind it. Note: I use oxy-acetylene to solder copper water pipes and silver braze HVAC lines because it provides a lot of heat very quickly. This setup is much hotter that MAPP or air-acetylene.Overall, I find these cloths very handy because of the hole and snap closure and fire resistance. I will use them instead of thin steel heat shields for most future work. Recommended.
