Update 9/10/24:I love this fan so much that I've decided to come back and buy another. Why? My thought is that if I have 2, both facing slightly angled away from the heat source, that the kitchen and hallway/bedrooms will heat up faster. The price has also dropped a few dollars since I bought it last year. Buy it and follow the advice below and I suspect you'll be as happy as I am with this fan. I currently have the single fan on the rear center of my cast iron fireplace. Once the second fan arrives, I'm going to put them both in the center but have the left one angled a bit to the left and the right one angled a bit to the right, thus spreading out the wave of heat as it moves across the room and through the house.Original review December 12, 2023:I looked at a lot of fans and a lot of reviews. Came to the conclusion that a lot of people who complained the fans (from various manufacturers) didn't move didn't seem to understand that heat rises, so the fan must be placed above the heat source. After figuring that out, I thought about propellers and heat movement. Perhaps 2 longer blades would start moving quicker than 5 short blades? Could longer blades move more air? That's why I purchased this one (and it is the only one I needed to purchase). I played around with positioning it on the top of my standalone propane stove/fireplace. Found the sweet spot for movement and left it there. It's moving so fast you can't see the blades. This is the first morning of heating up the house in the morning with this fan on. I left the ceiling fan off to see how long it would take. The stove is in the family room which is about 16x20 feet. In about a hour and a half the kitchen thermostat was up to 69 degrees F. Our furnace keeps the house at around 63 degrees overnight and then the fireplace does the rest during the day. I wanted to test with just this fan in the event of a power outage. Very doable to warm this place up without electricity. I know that if I turn the ceiling fan on the house will quickly warm up into the 70's. For me, a secondary, non-electric source of air movement was important since we live in an area that gets regular snow and can be quite cold.I'm very satisfied with this purchase.A recommendation to other shoppers looking for a non-electric fan for air movement: don't assume a fan is bad based on people complaining IF they do not tell you where they placed the fan in their particular circumstances. I saw one person place the fan on the hearth in front of their fireplace rather than on the mantle. Remember that heat rises. Place whatever fan you purchase above the heat source. That heat source will need to get quite warm/hot before the fan will move. It is the heat that creates the movement. The person who placed the fan in front of the fireplace solved their lack of movement issue by placing a cast iron pan into the fire, heating it up, then placing it on the hearth and putting the fan on that. Then they got movement. Also, people complained that their chosen fan didn't move much air. These fans aren't designed to act like regular room fans. They are just gently moving heat further away from the heat source out into the room and subsequently into connecting rooms. It's a fairly slow process but I've found that it does work.Another thought is that some people complained their fans broke in only a few weeks or months. Question if those people have an open fireplace where ash can get drawn into the fan mechanism and clog it.I'm sure some fans out there are crappy, so the information I've provided won't be foolproof with every fan. But I think it'll help you with your selection. Also, I chose not to go with the cheapest fan, assuming the crappier versions were likely to cost under $20. My philosophy is buy it once and it lasts for decades if you do the proper research and think it through before purchasing. I'll try to remember to post an update next heating season. This fan will be used quite a bit this winter. My heat source is propane so there is no ash. But will it leave any kind of residue on the mechanism? Time will tell. I may also take it off one morning when it's cold and blow air across the mechanism with my hair dryer set on cold to blow out anything that might cause eventual slowing of the blades. Almost everything requires some sort of maintenance to keep working well. Good luck in your search for your best fan choice.

Items worked exactly as described and once the wood stove started to heat up the fans started turning slowly on theiru own like Magic and once the wood stove heated up even more they are now spinning rapidly and I can feel the heat from them standing several feet from them and now sitting on the couch feet away is Alot more pleasant and Alot quicker than without them. Also, they are Very whisper quiet. I am Very impressed with these fans so I would highly recommend these fans

I've included a pic of the fan not working....next to a 3 blades one i ordered, thats working perfectly next to it.The one I got has 3 issues;Doesn't get spinning until the stove is REALLY hot, so low temp starts are false.Didn't work AT ALL for the first 2 days I had this on the stove. At high RPM (when it's even working) the 6 fan blades aren't very effective.Save your money, try something else. I reordered some 3 bladed fans I'd used in a previous home.

I have an electric blower on my wood stove and it's loud so this was bought, I was skeptical at first but this fan actually got my house warmer then the 300.00 blower so another was bought for the other side of the stove and at -9 degrees outside those fans outshined that blower. My house was 82° while -9 outside and 2 small pieces of wood burning.I am impressed to say the least. And bonus, I no longer have to turn the television volume over 5... soo quiet.

I have to say this is a great idea. It worked good most of the first year. The second year it needed a very hot fire to get the fan moving. You can change out the power supply but I have not found one that even lasted as long as the one that came with it originally.

I’ve only had the opportunity to use once for a short time, it performed as described and is very well constructed

I purchased this fan for the soul purpose of using it in only emergency situation, the power being out in the cold weather. I have a gas range and have tested them in a cast iron skillet to circulate the heat off the skillet. I used the thermometer to keep the heat in the proper range. I feel confident that the 2 fans will keep my house a livable temperature.

It does push air around, much like the other types of good fans of this style. (Not as much as an electric fan, but a little).Your fingers (knuckles) can get hit by the blade while lift with the handle. Not hard enough to break the dkin, but it give you a fright.

Bought this as I saw one at a friend's house and they said how brilliant they are. We had just moved into a new house with a wood burner and loved the idea that the hot air would come into the room, rather than upwards! It really works! You can feel the hot air coming into the room and it is completely silent. I was dubious about that when I read the description but it does seem to be. All in all, a great little item. The following week I saw one in the middle aisle in Lidl but I prefer mine as it has six blades.
