The stove thermometer arrived on time and packaged well enough, it is used on my wood burning stove and is easy to read and seems to be fairy accurate and working as it should, so i would recommend it and seller to others.

A few months ago I bought an electric smoker and I've wondered how accurate it is in setting the temperature where I want it. I ordered this to help me test it, but now I don't know what to think. I first put this in my oven and set it at 350 to cook some muffins. The oven beeped and the thermometer read close to 400. I then tried it in the smoker and it was very close to the setting of the smoker. So which do I have; an oven that runs hot or a smoker that runs cold? One thing I do know is the thermometer is very quick to respond to the cold air coming in from opening the door to my oven/smoker; it started dropping as soon as I looked at it. My instincts tell me that it reads a little high and my smoker isn't running at where I set it, but I can't say for sure.

An improvement would be a needle that could be seen in low light without a flashlight but younger eyes might not have this problem.

I got this for a wood stove I'm in the process of building but since it's not done yet so I thought I'd throw it on my garage heater for now to test it out.Like most thermometers of this design it's simple. A small wound piece of metal expands as it heats up making the needle move. It's simplicity is also why they're great to have. There's not much that can go wrong with them. From what I've seen the readings have been fairly accurate. It's not a precise instrument but for it's intended use it's function is perfectly acceptable. The magnet is plenty strong enough to stay in place where you put it. The temperature print is well done and easy to read at a glance.I like that it has a little handle on it so that I'd you need to move it's location there's less chance of getting to close to the hot surface. It's metal body is thin and light weight but durable and should last for a long time. It's a low cost way to get acceptably accurate temperature readings. I would recommend this to anyone with a wood stove and I think they would be happy with it's performance.

Works as designed but not necessarily accurate.

Got a wood stove recently that didn't have a thermometer from the factory. This Magnetic thermometer is big enough that you don't need to get off the couch to see the approximate temp. It is perfect for my stove. The little handle on the top is nice so you don't burn your fingers if you need to move it!

I have had two much smaller magnetic log burner thermometers which are okay but hard to read where I usually sit so decided to order this larger version. The display is much easier to read from a distance with the blue, yellow and red areas clearly showing how hot the stove is. My own very small comment is that the silver pointer would be easier to see if it was in black and slightly thicker. The magnet is strong and doesn’t move once attached. Our local log burner store emphasised that it’s important to place the thermometer in the right place on the stove as anywhere near the air input lever can give false (low) figures so ours is placed at the opposite side near the top corner. I’m very pleased with this larger and clearer thermometer and at just £8.99 feel it’s a bargain.

If your wood burning stove has a metal pipe coming out of the top, this is a really handy addition. Many people don't know there's a sort of "ideal" temperature for the flue to burn away resins etc from the wood. If they aren't burned, they can build up and be a fire risk. So, this simple gadget sticks magnetically to the flue and gives you a temperature readout that's clear and accurate enough for most people.Worth having.

This stove thermometer has a large dial with clear markings and bright, visually appealing colour bands. It responds quickly to changes in temperature and is easy to read. The built-in magnet holds it securely to the flue.I have found that there is significant variation in where different manufacturers put the 'best operation' band - some as low as 110 - 250C, others 150 - 350 or even 260 - 460C. On this particular model of stove thermometer that I received, the 'too hot' band starts at 260C, which I believe is quite low relative to other thermometers and stove manufacturers' recommendations. In my opinion it would not be a problem to go somewhat into the red on this thermometer, at least for short periods after refuelling for example. Keeping the stove temperature above the minumum of the 'best operation' band is the best way to prevent creosote depsosits from building up on the inside of your flue. All in all a useful product that will help you to burn your firewood efficiently and safely.

Quite an attractive item, I was worried about the bright colours against the black flue but it actually helps to read it from across the room. The magnet holds it on the flue well and it seems to measure the temperature quite well compared to my IR thermometer. For my stove the too hot is a little low but that doesn't really matter if you know where your stove manufacturers' recommendations lie.In reality I don't need this as I can tell by the fire and the sound how hot the stove is but it's nice having that peace of mind just to check!

We have an inset wood burner and I wasn't 100% sure that this thermometer would be suitable as many would put it on the flue which we can't. . However it attaches to the metal part of the door very firmly using its magnetic back and is a great instant visual cue to see how your wood burner is doing. We tend to be running in the middle of the yellow 'best operation' section which seems fair enough. I wouldn't mind if it wanders into the 'too hot' area personally but I would think if its in the lower blue section there is a fair chance you will be sooting up your chimney somewhat. As wood burners and their installation vary considerably its probably worth a bit of trial and error to see where on the dial is best for you. I'm impressed with this, its hardly an essential addition to your heating but at the price I feel its well worth having.
