Our economical mandrel system provides the base for turning precision pens, pencils, key chains, etc. To use, simply place the proper bushings and your blanks on the shaft and secure with the knurled brass mandrel nut. When turning projects such as key chains, which do not require the full length of the mandrel shaft, just slide the provided stop onto the mandrel until the needed length is exposed, and tighten the stop! Mandrel includes morse taper shaft, knurled brass shaft nut and compression stop nut.

I purchased this mandrel to turn Christmas tree ornaments, I had no intention of turning pens, But with a slight modification, it served the purchase. Since I won't be turning pens, I can't truly rate it for it's intended purpose. I see no reason it wouldn't work as designed. Not being a pen turner or one wanting to learn, instructions should be included. There were none. This why I didn't give it five stars.

Have made a few pens using this mandrel and it works as expected. I use it with a mandrel saver instead of using the brass nut on the end but the nut would work fine too.

Just purchased this mandrel to find it was about 1/2 inch shorter than the mandrel I had from woodcraft that I needed to replace since I accidently glued the penblanks to the mandrel shaft. Upon arrival I was discouraged to find it was not long enough for the two penblanks, three bushings, and the threaded spacer nut.
