Easy to connect to each other and easy to install. Quality appears good. Tested them and they look like good smoke detectors. Loud enough and a good value! Same size as what we were replacing.

There is no battery to change and there is an expected 10 year lifespan for this. They look nice and we're super easy to install. Very loud alert.

This is a preliminary review, as I just got this set of six smoke alarms and have now finished installing one of them, but I'm not impressed with the installation options. If I don't add to this later, it will mean that I'm otherwise satisfied with the units, which is why I am on faith for now giving a provisional 4-star rating, despite a 2-star install experience. The bracket for the model I'm removing has cut-outs to accommodate different existing screw patterns, recognizing that more often than not a smoke detector is replacing a previous installation, inevitably with at least a somewhat different mounting bracket. The X-Sense mounting bracket demands that the two screws go exactly in hole placements in their bracket. Strike one.I have mollys installed in my ceiling for previous smoke detectors. I can't use them, or at least I can't use the thin bolts of the mollys because the X-Sense mounting bracket requires a counter-sink type screw that fits closely with their included screw head size (not a problem with multiple previous types of smoke detector bracket).Any significant variation on that such that the screw head sticks up even a little and the X-Sense detector won't connect to the mount. Strike two.The included screws are short, with lame plastic molly wanna-be units. When I buy items that include such, I always toss them in favor of something better, but ... see above. Strike three in terms of installation. Basically X-Sense has decided that regardless of what you might already have in your ceiling or wall to support a smoke detector, you (a) must start over with new holes, and (b) you must drill bigger holes through your wallboard to use their screws. If each and every different smoke detector company were to do that, over a period of years the wallboard behind my smoke detectors would look like a woodpecker had been at work there. Just overall poor design with poor regard for real world cases.I don't yet know how well these detectors will work out longer term, and of course I have no way to know how long the batteries will actually last. I don't even know how the rest of my install will go; I have 5 more of these to put up and might need a trip to a hardware store to see if I can get machine screws that will go in my existing molly bolt locations with heads that will fit the tight tolerances of the brackets for these units. Or I give up and drill a bunch of new holes. In summary so far, I can only say that I'm not too pleased starting out.=================================================================Two days later and I've installed all but one of the six of these now, as well as two CO monitors and their add-on remote device. Things went much better than I expected; I wrote the original review after I had just installed one of the smoke detectors, that a ceiling mount. The ones I have since mounted on a wall above a door (in 3 rooms) and on a basement hall ceiling, and in all of those cases I found solid wood behind the wallboard, and even the fairly short screws they included seemed to connect with the underlying wood well enough that I didn't need to use any sort of molly bolt (their lame plastic ones, or real ones). And every detector "just worked" insofar as I could tell, and it was easy to interlink the CO monitors and the remote into one connected system. I will finish install and do some testing before I'm sure, but I'm now guardedly optimistic about this overall system now, and hopeful that the batteries will last at least some decent percentage of the promised 10 years. For the CO monitors, I can always replace the CR2032 coin batteries.I wish the default mounting option for the remote wasn't double-sided foam 'tape'. I might follow someone else's suggestion and use stick-on velcro, or I guess drill holes in the back to screw the remote back plate to a wooden surface, though again I find a certain lack of follow-through on the part of the manufacturer here --- why include screws without referencing how to use them in the installation instructions? Probably better to go with the velcro in case the case would prove too difficult to open with the back plate permanently installed somehow (?).Anyway, I'm a happier camper now, assuming some basic testing turns up no issues and the smoke detector built-in batteries last reasonably well. Oh, and of course, that they actually function well as smoke detectors! I suppose I should do something to generate some smoke to test the true basic function given that this is a brand I had never heard of before.

The smoke alarms seem to be ok. The 6 pack comes already linked, so all 6 are already interconnected. Very easy to install. The mounting plate has a screw hole pattern that is not like standard smoke alarms. It would be an improvement if there were mounting holes that align with standard US electrical boxes, so replacing hard wired smoke alarms would be more easily accomplished. It takes about 6-7 seconds for the rest of the smoke alarms to sound when one activates. They do NOT sound a temporal 3 sound pattern, just single beeps, and when the additional smoke alarms sound, the beeps are not timed the same as the original alarm, so multiple different sound tones are heard. They are definitely loud enough to wake most people up in case of an alarm. I also purchased the remote control, to remotely silence the alarms. The remote implies that it is for remote testing and silencing. The remote test is not a remote test for the alarms, but more a remote test to make sure the remote control is linked to the smoke alarms. “ testing “ simply blinks the blue light on the handheld remote when initiated from a smoke alarm to verify the remote is interconnected to the smoke alarm “ network “ You can add additional smoke alarms to the network if your application requires more than 6. The instructions are decent, but are in a very tiny format, and difficult to read. The supplied screws have small heads, and should be installed using a number 1 Phillips screwdriver. Decent product. Cannot speak for longevity of battery life or immunity to false alarms, as I have just installed these at my father’s house.

I recently leaned that smoke detectors need to be changed out like every 10 years... Go figure. These detectors come with a battery, are easy to install, and plenty loud when they are activated
