Your cart is empty.YG-1 G4 series vanadium alloy HSS spiral flute tap for multi-purpose. High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Uncoated tools feature just the base substrate without any additional treatment or coatings and are suitable for a wide range of applications. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. 0.625-inches thread length. Applications: Good for steel castings and forgings/heat-treatable alloy steels, free machining stainless steel, heat and corrosion-resistant stainless steel/valve stainless steel, aluminum alloy castings, nodular cast iron/chilled cast iron/meehanite iron/ductile iron. Excellent for low carbon/free machining carbon steel, medium to high carbon steel.

Bought this to retap a hole my dealer botched up semi-removing a broken bolt and ez-out. The tap from my super cheap set wasn’t biting at all so I bought this for a specific task. Wow. The difference was hard to believe. This cut so smooth and effortless it made me think I was doing something wrong…nope. It was making chips and cutting threads just that easily. Wasn’t even using cutting fluid, just some motor oil. Excellent tap.

Had no trouble tapping thick stainless. Tried a different tap on it and it couldn't tap one hole.

Best tap I ever used. Best threads I ever cut. Used on 3/8ths 6061 aluminum. Started easily and it took only light pressure as it pulls itself through.
