The valve closures are clear silicone seals that over time have gotten old and weak, so when filling the toilet would lightly leak around each of 2 seals. Tried replacing with another set but they really didnt hold well and company updated this units innards so can't replace whole innards. Saw these 2nd generation seals and tought that they must have found issue with okd ones so improved material and design...and yep! Replaced with these and immediately sealed with no leaks since. Really effective and easy to install. Saved me having to replace whole toilet! Outstanding outcome and SO MUCH CHEAPER that replacing the whoke water efficient toilet!

I purchased several brands, even OEM from American Standard, which all leaked except this one! This one is a lot heavier, thicker, and better quality -- it worked immediately! A+++++++ for great quality!

An improvement over the original part which leaks after about 1 to 2 years of use. Stopped the toilet's leak down immediately.

Bought in December and had to change again Feb 23. Started bubbling up and leaking. So much for improved design. Junk

Little leery at first to try this product since it's not OEM part. However, took a chance and followed the easy instructions on the package: Clean tank circle rims under the flapper seals with lint-free microfiber cloth before install. Allow up the 24 hrs settlement in working condition. Well, I used an old toothbrush to scrub some of the calcium deposits off due to hard water and used a towel after to wipe clean when the tank was emptied. After that, it took about 10 minutes after I installed it to completely seal after flushing. Had it only a week. So far it seems to be working great.

I have owned 5 of the vormax toilets in 2 homes.My complaint is that these seals go bad frequently.Not a hard replacement process, but I highly recommend buying the original replacement parts by American Standard.Not second generation.

This fits perfectly on the American Standard VorMax toilet. It did significantly reduce the leaking/dripping into the toilet bowl. I change the seals, refilled the tank and then shut the water off. In the morning the tank water level dropped to 3/4 so there is still leakage, Overall seems like a good product and it came packaged properly to keep the sealer flat. Can't say this for other brands I bought and had to return. Would have given 5 stars if the leakage stopped completely.Update: the leak stopped completely I just needed to let it sit overnight. 5 stars

Seems to work so far, been installed for a couple weeks. Stopped the leaking. Time will tell on durability.
