2) Most of the time when installing this carrier 318984-753 draft inducer motor kit the blower wheel for this draft inducer motor has to be replaced because it is hard to get the wheel off. We would recommend that if you are buying the motor, also order the blower wheel at the same time (they're not expensive) as you're likely going to end up changing it too.

The motor was an exact replacement with the exception of the flywheel. My old one (1983) was a squirrel cage type, and the new one was flatter. No matter. Took my time, replaced the gasket with a 1/4" bead of permagasket paste (old one came apart and I discarded it). Take time to take off the fan cage. Use thread loosener and possible heat gun. Watch youtube for precise instructions to replace entire assembly. Hint, use the permagasket paste to hold the screwheads into the socket so they won't fall out as you 'pilot' them into the holes on the furnace (too small for adhesive tape). I paid a little extra for this one because I was afraid to buy the real cheapie ones (same picture on Amazon). Take your time and it will be a breeze (no pun intended). Good luck!
