This Goliath press is the beast to make your gear head buddy's jealous.I'm replacing ball joints on my 2001 ram 1500 4x4 with dana 44.This press was exactly what was needed to complement the astro master set I purchased at the same time. The master set alone was excellent, but the throat of the standard press runs on the short side when dealing with any larger style joints or general pressing. The Goliath is a great addition to get that extra push you need with a little extra space to work with adapters. It's not intended, but I did run a mid air gun with this press, And breaker bar to finish things offPlease make sure to grease or anti-seze the screw assembly before operating. Would buy again.. but the quality is so excellent, it's a lifetime tool for the average home style shop repairs.*The one picture is the Goliath next to the standard Astro press to tell size comparison

Huge ball joint press. Great quality heavy duty. I needed this for ball joints on a 2008 tundra. Good price and did the job no issues.

I rate this c-clamp a 4 out of 5 for functionality, fit, and easy of use. The finish quality on this tool is the absolute worse I’ve had on any tool like this and well under my threshold of acceptability. To fix that and get a 5 stars out of 5 the manufacturer should really use a better paint process and thicker paint that won’t simply fall apart after 1 use. With that said you’ll pry this from the Davidnators cold 🥶 dead💀 hands. Want to know more read on…I’ve used Mac, along with rental tools from part stores and even have a nice ball joints set I got from Amazon but they all come with the smaller C-clamp… enter the Goliath XL Ug Ug Ug… this bad boy is heavy…. Just be sure not to drop it on your toe. The sheer weight of the c-clamp is crazy but thats what you need to remove some of the hardest most stubborn ball joints. With that said the functionality is extended by providing a bigger opening and a bigger bolt… because in this case size does matter. It made removing and putting on the ball joints much easier than using the normal c-clamp. Even if you plan on renting a kit you may be better off getting this clamp because of how much easier your life will be depending on the job. In my case I was removing the ball joints from a 2016 LTZ Chevy Suburban 1500… with 170,000 miles on it.The only issue I have with this clamp is not with the durability of the metal or structure itself but the lack of durability of the paint on the product. The painted finish just simply seemed to flake off in one simple use making it the worse finish I’ve experienced on any tool I’ve purchased so far. Really for something named the Goliath XL I expected a much better finish than for the paint simply to fall off in one use. But maybe that’s why they took the name Goliath because Goliath died after being struck one time much like the paint chipped after one use. With that said the tip is to use grease on any type of press like the Goliath XL screw because the extra lube helps to make it move easier when you are pressing ball joints in and out. It also helps to extend the life of the screw so it doesn’t mess up the threads on those harder jobs!

I previously purchased a Orion Motor Tech Master Ball Joint Kit and spent almost 4 hours attempting to press in 1 ball joint on a 1996 GMC K2500 Suburban before finally giving up after damaging two ball joints. I purchased the Astro Goliath XL and Master Ball Joint Kit to complete the job, took me 5 minutes to set it up and press in the ball joint. This is a professional grade tool. Don't waste your money on anything lessor than this. The steel on both the press and adapters is hardened impact grade steel. The press is super heavy and well made. The tools still looked unused after completing this job. I am very pleased with Astro tools and will be purchasing more of their products in the future.

I ordered this to go with my 7897 kit. Glad I did. Ended up using the short screw in this kit, inside the clamp from the 7897 kit. This allowed good access to the lower ball joints without removing upper control arms on my 2010 Sierra. Worked great for me.

Astro Pneumatic Tool 78100 Goliath Ball Joint XL C-Frame Press is huge and sturdy so far. Durability is yet to be seen, how long it will last, so I won't rate that. Worked better on my original U-joints on my 1997 C1500 with 320k on the clock. Didn't work so well for the lower ball joints, Shop press worked way better and faster for ball joints. Still a keeper.

Needed a larger ball joint press for a few vehicles that the standard size just wasn't cutting. This thing is just as hefty as my older smaller units and then some. It's made of metal, and you use it for ball joints, u joints, pinching fingers, and anything else you need to exert a few tons of pressure on, that you can fit into your shop press to do the job. Yes it will probably damage the shipping box and hurt the driver carrying it to you since it weighs so much, but it's a heavy duty tool, you know that. Yes Snap on, Mac, and others make great tools, but I'm not in that range yet, so this does the job at a much more attractive price. I have not needed customer service so can't comment on that, but would not hesitate to buy this brand, from this seller again.

The c-frame included with most service kits is too small for 4x4 work and requires extra finagling to try to get it to work. In some cases as with Ford super duty track bar ball joints the smaller default-sized c-frame was a nightmare to use and I damaged a ball joint while installing it because the hex-flats were interacting with the frame of the vehicle causing it to press at a slight angle. This one has the length to use the adapters in a more convenient orientation to wrench from the bottom so that the truck frame stays out of the way and the tool presses the joint straight in, effortlessly.

Affordable at $146.04 CAD. This thing weigh's a ton. The forcing screw is tighter than the cheap press I have but still not as tight as the otc one. Haven't used it yet.

Anyone whose works in the trade knows how annoying it is when your everyday ball joint press is too small to do the job, (yikes). But seriously, this thing can help press in those annoying control arm bushing too, make your own adapters or mix and match from your other kits. Built like a brick and I have not bent it in the slightest. Word up.
