Radio has clear trans/receive. Was able to program with Chirp, but had some difficulty at first. I used the recommended windows installer for Chirp but it would never connect with the radio. Downloaded the standalone zip file and was able to immediately connect. Very simple to program. Highly recommend the radio.

The UV-5RM radio package is an excellent product. You really cannot beat them for the price. Everythig worked perfectly. Only thing I was not aware of was the radios did not come with the GMRS channels programmed in. No big deal, using CHIR free download software, I easily programmed in the GMRS channels. I will be adding to the list of channels as my familiarity of the radios get stronger. So far, I am very pleased. I strongly recommend.

The radio has great power, I get good reports. Documentation, not so much. Programming isn’t intuitive.

These guys just are what they are. We haven’t done extensive field testing just yet, but works are expected in typical daily use. + for extra battery. Wish they had a PTT button for steering wheel. These are renowned for a reason.

Decent, but cheap, so you get what you pay for. First, they have an ok range but not stellar. Next, they are hard to hear. The speakers distort on the last 40% of volume, so you need to hold them to your head to clearly hear. Finally, the backside can burn your fingers if you hold it wrong when transmitting. Be mindful.
