I purchased this XM module extension cabling after I concluded that the factory placement of the XM model would no longer work after adding a CarPlay module to my 2018 Toyota Highlander. The factory cables are about 4 inches in length; thus, it is unrealistic to use them to move the XM module to a new location. These cables are 16 inches, so it does allow you to locate the XM module within the vicinity of the factory placement. Some things to consider:- These cables are on the shorter side of what they should be. Ideally there would be enough slack to pull the factory radio out of the dash before having to disconnect the XM wiring (like it was before the relocation of the XM module). If these were 22 to 28 inches, or they were a cable extension instead (allowing you to just “add on” to the factory cables), it would have been much better.- This cable bundle does NOT include the XM antenna cable, which is annoying. So, the only way to get that cable to extend (without buying yet another cable extension from Amazon), is to cut away the factory tape (used to bundle many wires) and pull out the XM antenna cabling, so you can create maybe 8 to 12 inches of slack in that cable, to allow for the new XM module relocation. As for the relocation of the XM module, that was a nightmare given the short length of these cables. I spent maybe an hour trying to fit it in every nook and cranny I could in the dash. I was about to throw in the towel when I finally found I was able to:1. Unhook the glovebox piston, remove the glovebox, and then remove all screws from the glovebox housing.2. Plug in these replacement cables to the factory radio.3. Fully mount the factory radio back in place. You need to do this to allow for the maximum amount of slack in these cables.4. Fish these cables (and the XM antenna cable) down through the cabin air filter opening in the glovebox housing.5. Plug in the XM module (these cables plus antenna) and then wedge the module up through, and eventually above where the cabin air filter goes. If pushed all the way up into the dash, there is enough of a cavity where the module will fit, even after remounting the glovebox housing.6. Test that XM is working on the factory radio.7. Remount the glovebox housing, reattach the glovebox, hook up the glovebox piston, and close the glovebox.Everything is back together and working, but I fear ever having to remove the factory radio again, as I am not sure how far out it will come to allow for the unattachment of these cables. It could be that I need to pull the XM module back out first and unhook it, to be able to pull the radio out. If so, that is a total pain (and avoidable with just a few more inches of cable length).
