These seem like good quality material. I initially ran them through the wash, since, who knows what could be on them or what they might have been exposed to during manufacturing, packaging, etc. They did shrink just a little bit, which was to be expected and not a problem at all. There was some fraying of the edges on a couple of them, again, not a huge issue. I do like the weave tightness. It's not a tight weave like a bed sheet, but it's also not a loose weave, like a muslin sack. These will work great for my needs. I make all kinds of beers, breads, cheeses, yogurts and other fermented and unfermented foods that require different levels of straining. These would also work well for squeezing the water out of shredded potatoes to make hash browns. I'm quite pleased with these so far. The price is great as well.

These are a good size and work well for my needs. They are undyed so they are more of a ivory color.
