We were quoted $600 to install a new draft inducer motor by a contractor we knew and had done other work for us. I asked why so much, when I saw motors run about a $100. He said they only install Rheem certified motors which are about$250. Still it looked like a simple install and I did not understand why so much considering 1 hour drive time both ways and short install time @ $100/hr. It took me less than 10 minutes, so straightforward I didn’t even need to watch a video. Two tools, an impact driver with an extension and socket for the motor and flue screws, and a pair of pliers because I could not wiggle off the electrical connectors with just my fingers. All the motor holes lined up perfectly. You will need a drill or driver for the self tapping screws on the flue I reused the same ones. My wife swears this one is quieter than the original one that came with the furnace before the bearings started to go, her ears are more sensitive than mine. No idea how the life expectancy will stack up to the more expensive Rheem one, but motors are simple devices and I doubt there will be much of a difference, if it fails soon I might come back and edit, but keep in mind I could install 6 of them for the same price as was quoted. Just confirm you get the right motor and do yourself a favor and install it yourself when it starts making noise and before you are left without heat.

This replacement induced draft fan was an exact replacement of the original factory fan. I worried when I ordered it, that it would be a different fit, but it was exact. It is well constructed with a set screw to anchor the squirrel cage on the motor shaft (unlike the factory one) and mounting screws for the motor assembly outside the main blower housing (the factory blower has them under the squirrel cage.....dumb). It was an easy swap out with only normal hole alignment difficulties mounting the new fan. Apparently it fits several furnace brands but mine is the Ruud Silhouette 2.

Item was delivered a bit early, which was great. I wondered if I would need a new gasket, and the motor came with one pre-attached, which was another thing I liked a lot. 4 screws lined right up, took less than 5 minutes to install, and it is working great. I used this on my father's rheem silhouette furnace, matched the old jakel motor number up, and this unit came up as a direct replacement. The old jakel motor still worked, but the squirrel cage had fallen apart completely (after about 25 years or so, leading to this purchase.)

It would have costed over $900 to have this part replaced by an HVAC company. Ordered the part on Amazon and spent 10 minutes changing it and saved over $700

Arrived damaged. Amazon customer service is useless. Requested a call only to get an auto dialer calling me repeating the same crap that was not helpful from the website.Box isn't damaged meaning this part was dropped prior to being sent out.Sad part is my furnace has been down since Monday morning (part arrived Wednesday so fast shipping I suppose) and I NEEDED THIS PART. Guess another cold 3 nights while I now wait for another unbroken part.UPDATED:Finally received the replacement for the replacement that originally showed up broken.5 minutes to remove the old motor and replace. Direct fit, 4 screw holes line up exactly with holes on the furnace, gasket included, furnace works correctly.
